Steemit Idea - Use Steem to Invest in a Football (Soccer) Club

in steemsports-soccer •  8 years ago

I have seen people come up with many ideas for using Steem.  Some of which have actually been put into practice, such as the Doctor that is accepting Steem as a form of payment for medical care. The idea that I had is using Steem to invest in a lower league, semi-professional football (soccer) club.

The idea is that members of the Steemit community contribute a monthly (or yearly) amout on Steem that we use to pool together and invest in a club.  The investors would then elect members who would liase with the club.  The group could be passive within the club or could strive to have a substantial say about the workings of the club.

It would not be the first time crowdfunding was used to purchase a football club, but it would be the first time on a revolutionary platform such as Steemit.  If there is interest, I would certainly head up any movement to get this going.

Benefits

It would show the power of the Steemit community and bring publicity to the Steemit platform.

Steemit could be the sponsor of the Club's shirt, leading to more publicity and exposure.

It would be FUN!

Would love to hear your thoughts as a community.

This is actually an idea I've had for quite some time, also E-Sports for example. Its getting more and more popular over time and Steemit would be the ultimate place to sponsor teams and their members for tournaments.

Great post!

Thank you! And I agree with you 100%. Imagine seeing the team owned by a group of Steemians running out onto the pitch with the Steemit logo on their jerseys. There are some lower league clubs that would easily be affordable if enough people became involved.

Good call

I would be up for it keep me informed love the idea

I completely agree this is a great idea. What can we do to move the initiative forward?
