Doomed after draft! Fantasy football biggest mistake.

The biggest mistakes season long fantasy football players make, dooming their team before season starts.

This pro tip goes for any league that doesn't have a over 12 players. Works for both standard and ppr scoring.

The BIGGEST mistake that fantasy football players make is drafting a quarterback too early. The reason is that the difference between the #1 scoring quarterback and the number #18 quarterback is 143 points (2015 Standard League.) If you remove #1 Cam Newton from that list that number drops to 97 (or 6.0625 pts per game.) That means the difference from #2 Tom Brady to #18 Tyrod Taylor is 6.0625 pts per game. That being said the ideal round to take your starting quarterback should be some where around round 10. Yes, round 10 I'm not crazy, I am a winner (back-to-back years this time around.) So your leaving 6.0625 points on the board because you don't have Tom Brady or Russell Wilson, how are you ever going to make up for those points. Draft studs early and often for 9 rounds. Heres how the other positions break down.

Running Backs... Looking at the top 41 since you need 3 of them atleast. The difference from #1 Devonta Freeman to #41 Ameer Abdullah was 151 points (or 9.4375 pts per game.) This shows that there's more urgency to get rb's before your quarterback.

Wide recievers... Looking at the top 50 since someone created this thing called a flex position. Heres what the urgency number looks like. #1 Antonio Brown scored 246 points and number 50 Nate Washington scored a whopping 89. Subtract them and you get a difference of 157 points (or 9.8125 pts per game).

So if you use this technique (What I call my urgency scale) and implement it into a mock draft I guarentee you team looks better than you have drafted this year or in past years. Its a little bit of math and you should calculate it for every 5 players to the bottom. For instance. Calculate it from 1-50, 5-50, 10-50 and you can see the numbers get closer and closer. And at some point as the players leave the board the quarter back positions number will be the highest and that's when you take one. I am a software developer on the side and I am currently writing a drafting program based on this. Follow me for more fantasy tips. One last note - I drafted Carson Palmer in the 10th round this year not too bad. I will keep my followers up to date on the mock draft app development. And let me know what you think about this stragegy. And please try drafting a qb in the 10th round and tell my how you team looks. James O'Neill L.H.
