Kevin de Brunye scored a stunning 25 yard left foot stunner to give ManCity all 3 points in this clash of the titans. It was just rewards for the travelling blues who had dominated possession and looked the more likely team to win.
de Bruyne strikes to hand City all 3 points
It was Chelsea who started the brightest and could have been 1-0 with the first couple of minutes. A Kante cross from the right gave Morata a chance but his header glanced over the crossbar.
It was a tight opening half hour and chances were few and far between, but City almost went ahead on 27 minutes when Sterling put in an inch perfect cross that needed just a touch to see it home, but it was just beyond Silva who slowed his run into the box but must have wished he hadn't.
City were looking the most likely to score and de Bruyne was the man who looked most likely to break his former club's defence with some sweet balls into the area, but Chelsea held strong and the first half finished goalless.
Eden Hazard came close for Chelsea
Chelsea came closest to opening the scoring in the second half, when Eden Hazard was running towards goal, but his shot was well saved by Ederson at the near post.
Just a few minutes later, City went ahead through a moment of genius from de Bruyne. He started the move himself. He played a one-two with Jesus to create plenty of space for himself on the edge of the area before thundering in a sweet left foot drive to leave the Chelsea keeper helpless.
City manager Guardiola showed his delight pacing up and down his technical area fist pumping what was to prove the difference between the two.

There were few chances afterwards but City held on to take all three points and lay a massive claim on the title.
There is a long way to go of course, but City who have now four consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League, look strong contenders. As for champions, Chelsea, they have now dropped 8 points in 4 home matches this season, which is two more than the whole of last season.
