Colin Kaepernick Files Grievance Against NFL Owners

Another Sunday in the NFL has come and gone and quarterback Colin Kaepernick is still standing in the unemployment line. Reports are out now that he has filed a grievance with the NFL and is claiming that all of the owners have colluded in refusing to hire him. How will this turn out, we will soon find out.
Let's look back though at how this situation has unfolded before we jump to conclusions on the grand conspiracy that Kaepernick is claiming. First and foremost, Kaepernick was under contract by the San Francisco 49ers. He was not cut. He was actually going to make $12 Million this year. But HE opted out of his contract, not the other way around. He actually thought he could get a bigger and better deal from another team. A foolish and ignorant move, no doubt.

Now let's look at his actions. Our country is great that we allow freedom of speech and allow peaceful protests. But just because we have freedom from our Government, we don't have freedom to say or do whatever we want with our employers. Our words and actions have consequences. If I yelled a racial slur at work, I would be fired. The Government would not throw me in jail, as I am free to say what I want, even if it vile and disgusting language. But my employer has the right to fire me for that.
Kaepernick was free to take a knee, he was free to wear socks that depicted police officers as pigs, he was free to wear and praise a Fidel Castro t shirt who was one of the most horrific dictators of our lifetimes that killed, butchered, and imprisoned millions of Cuban citizens. But then the Miami Dolphins (Miami is the biggest population of Cuban Americans in the United States) has the right not to hire Kaepernick.

Kaepernick’s girlfriend has the right to tweet comparing the Baltimore Ravens Owner to a slave owner. And the Baltimore Ravens Owner has the right not to hire Kaepernick either.
Kaepernick filed the grievance under the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement. Will he be able to prove that he is being blackballed by the owners? There are some garbage quarterbacks that have seen playing time this year. Matt Cassel and Scott Tolzien immediately come to mind. The Packers just lost Aaron Rodgers for the year and Brett Hundley steps in at quarterback, but their third string quarterback I have never even heard of. Is Kaepernick better? Maybe. But should the Packers be forced to sign him? Absolutely not.
Let us know what you think about this situation. Thank you for following @steemsports and you can follow me @scottybuckets Cheers!

He is living in his own fantasy world if he thinks he is entitled to an NFL job. I wouldn't hire a troublemaker like this regardless of what political views he has. I would want someone who puts in for the team and makes personal sacrifices for the good of the organisation. If that personal sacrifice is keeping your mouth shut and stop causing shit, it's not really a big ask.

Totally agree. The fact that he had a contract and wanted more money is really what drives it home for me. Like really? After all of the commotion you just caused you think you're going to get more money somewhere else? Get out of here. Even so, I'm willing to bet there are teams who would offer him a 2nd or 3rd string spot, but he's too damn hard headed and wants to be the starter and get more money than he's worth.

He needs a bit of a reality check. As long as he doesn't shit the bed too badly with this collusion thing sport has a way of giving people a 2nd chance. But I'd expect he will be on the outer until he learns to pull his head in.

For sure. No way in hell I'd want to sign him and bring on all that drama. He already shot himself in the foot and now he's just completely killing his chances

Thanks for moving your post. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I'm just new to Steemit. I couldn't find the 'reply' button that you first mentioned. I actually looked for it for quite a while.

When you specified that the button was called 'reply', it was just a matter of doing a 'Ctrl+F' to 'Find' it.

It seems counter-intuitive. I was looking for something big, like the blue 'Post' sign that I have to press to send this reply to you.

It's not. It's this dinky little thing right near some advertising trying to lure you to an entirely different site.

My apologies.

Why are you replying to me with this? I did not even use the word 'slur'. This looks like a copy/paste from somewhere else so maybe you should put a bit more effort in and click the correct Reply button.

The guy is not even in the NFL anymore and he is still a pain in the @22
And this kind of drama will always follow him, it's who he is.

I am ready for these storylines to pass..

Amen!

Teams won't sign him because he is a distraction! Even if he was good - which he ins't - he is to detrimental to teams and fans to merit the risk of signing him.

Its an interesting turn of events in this saga, I feel like we are watching a real life drama unfold before our eyes. I don't think he will win this case because he isn't a top 30 quarterback in this league anymore, but it will be interesting to see this play out.

Very pleasured to read sports related content on steemit. thank you :)

Thank you for reading!

lol, Kaepernick is a joke...
He makes all sorts of comments and statements - Comparing a white football team owner to a slave owner is, in it self, a racial remark from a black person to a white person...
but since it's black-to-white racism... It's ok???
Fuck off Kaepernick, go praise Castro you idiot.

Plus, look at his stats from the prior year. He sucked. Why would any one sign him anyway?
Bad attitude, entitlement, and outspoken idiot... His NFL career is done. He should just stand in the unemployment line now.
