The Houston Rockets now have sole possession of the best record in the NBA at 19-4. They are in action tonight at the Portland Trailblazers who are 13-11 on the season. The game tips off at 9pm Central Standard Time and can be seen on National Television on the Direct TV NBA Ticket. The Rockets are favored by 8.5 points and the over/under is 216.
Rockets guard James Harden is having his best season ever and it could translate into an MVP. He has career highs in scoring at 31.6 points per game, field goal percentage at 45.7%, and 3 point percentage at 40.2%. Harden’s running mate was supposed to be the newly acquired Chris Paul but he has been limited this season with injuries. Paul has only played in 9 games but he is averaging 10.1 assists in those games. Sharp shooter, Eric Gordon, is playing Robin to Harden’s Batman. Gordon has had some incredible games and is averaging 18.9 points this season.
The Trailblazers have had a good start to the season but have been lacking in consistency. Damian Lillard is having another dynamite year. He is once again leading the team in scoring at 25.7 points per game. C.J. McCollum joins him in the backcourt to make one of the best one/two combos in the NBA. He is averaging 20.7 points per game and shooting a fantastic 45.5% from the 3 point line. Jusuf Nurkic is the 3rd player averaging in double figures for Portland. The 7 foot big man is at his career high with 15 points per game.
Tonight’s game should feature a lot of offense. One thing that the Rockets have never been accused of is a good defensive team. James Harden and company will simply try and out score you and they have become damn good at that. But Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum will be drooling at the chance to play against the Rockets suspect defense tonight.
