Youth Career

1998 - 2003 ELCS Lyon

2003 - 2011 Lyon

Senior Career

2008 - 2011 Lyon B - scored 23 goals

2010 - 2017 Lyon - scored 100 goals

2017 - present Arsenal

From 2010 to 2017, Lacazette played a total of 275 matches and scored 129 goals in all competitions for Lyon's first team. He ended the 2014-15 season as the Ligue 1's top scorer with 27 goals in 33 games which also earned him the UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Year.

On 5 July 2017, Alexandre Lacazette became Arsenal's most expensive signing when he signed a five-year contract in a deal worth £46.5 million plus up to £6.1 million in potential bonuses. This was the largest fee ever received by Lyon from the sale of a player. The transfer also surpassed the previous Arsenal record £42.5 million that Arsenal paid Real Madrid in 2013 for Mesut Ozil. I believe Arsenal were able to get their man all thanks to the Court of Arbitration for Sports ban on Atletico Madrid who was already in advanced talks with Lyon to sign Lacazette.

Similarities can be found between Arsenal legend Thiery Henry and Arsenal new boy Alexandre Lacazette in that they both played as wingers before becoming a striker and also they are French. Lacazette possesses great pace, can dribble and has a very good eye for goal. He also presses the opposition and wins the ball back using his tackling ability.

The pressure on coach Arsene Wenger by fans to sign a proven goalscorer ever since Arsenal lost Robin Van Persie to Manchester United in 2012 has been so much, and finally, Wenger might just have given the Arsenal fans the signing they so much desired. But the question is "is Lacazette really an upgrade on the already available Giroud?". Lacazette has been unable to bench Giroud in the French national team no matter how good a season he has had in the past. Last season Giroud struggled to keep a starting spot in Wenger's team but was still preferred by French coach Didier Deschamps over Lacazette who was banging in goals for Lyon.

With reports suggesting that Giroud is going to stay put at Arsenal, it will be interesting to see how Wenger is going to set up his squad for the coming season. I join other Arsenal fans to plead with Alexis Sanchez to also stay put. The possible combination of Lacazette, Ozil, and Alexis in a 3-4-2-1 formation will give any defense in Europe a tough time.

Great post but he is more of an Ian Wright type player than Henry. I think Wenger will use Giroud more in the Europa league and as a super sub in the league. I dont know how he will fit them both in the squad at the same time with our new formation.

Honestly i hope he moved to liverpool fc. But he chose the arsenal to continue his career. Arsenal will be a formidable opponent for next season.

Let's just hope that injuries do not destroy such a dream.

@steemsports - A very thorough coverage on Lacazette. It was quite interesting to read his background and stats. Though he will be a great addition to Arsenal, how he is used is the main question. Having been familiar with Giraud, I will be keen to see Lacazette's strike combination if he can replace Giraud. Thanks for this thorough report. Upvoted

I am continuing my focus on wildlife. Today I wrote a blog on Snoozing parrots with my musings about Thomas Carlyle equating parrots to economists. I request you to take a look at it when you have time. Your comments, as always, would be an encouragement and incentive for me to make better blogs. Thanks

Nice shearing @steemsports

He is a very good player and necessary to the team, he gives a lot of work to his team!

He just scored his first goal for Arsenal in a friendly vs Sydney fc. More goals to come. :)

Good luck to him)

About time they made a good move.
