The Houston Rockets took the league’s second best scoring attack on the road, Tuesday, when they visited the United Center to take on the Chicago Bulls as both teams looked to get back into the win column. With James Harden missing his fourth game in a row due to an injured hamstring, off season acquisition, Chris Paul, looked to act as the engine for the Rockets high scoring offense.
Houston got off to a hot start, building a 20 point lead in the first quarter behind Eric Gordon’s 13 points. Chicago cut their deficit to 13 after a 9-2 run to the end of the quarter. The Bulls continued to chip away at the Rockets lead, trailing by only five heading into the locker room, largely due to big-man Bobby Portis’s efforts, who finished the half with 16 points.

The Rockets were inspired coming out of the locker room, extending their lead to 11 by the end of the third quarter. Mid-season acquisition, Gerald Green, continued his impressive play, adding 22 points by the end of the quarter. Green has scored 20+ points in every game that he has appeared in since the Rockets signed him.

The Bulls were not able to get within nine points of the Rockets, which is where the game would finish, as the Rockets pulled off a 116-107 victory. Paul and Gordon led Houston in scoring and assists, both, with 24 points. The Rockets, who attempt the most three-pointers per game in the league, hit, an astounding, 20, of an even more astounding, 54 attempts led by Trevor Ariza, who made 6 of his 16 attempts. The Bulls tallied five players in double-digit scoring, with the a fore mentioned Portis leading the way with 22 points.
