The 2018 NFL Draft is almost here and we want to take a look at some of the best players that will be hearing their names called in the first round. Today we want to focus on some running backs. Next let’s take a look at Sony Michel out of the University of Georgia. The 5’11 senior back is joining his teammate Nick Chubb as they try to be the first school in history to have two running backs taken in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Sony Michel was born in raised in Orlando, Florida. He played football all of his life and was a highly recruited player by all of the top programs in the country when he decided to take his talents to Georgia. Michel did see some playing time in his freshman year and scored 5 touchdowns but his season was cut short when he broke his shoulder.
His sophomore year would be his first major time in the starting line up. Although he entered the year as the backup to Nick Chubb, he would be put into the starting role when Chubb went down with an injury. Michel would run for over 1,100 yards that year and score 8 touchdowns. It was a breakout year and everyone in the SEC took notice.

The next two years Sony Michel and Nick Chubb would split the carries but Michel played slightly less. But midway through his senior year, Michel would explode on the field. He would run for 1,227 yards and average an incredible 7.9 yards per carry. He would score an amazing 16 touchdowns and was one of the most feared backs in the country.
His career was highlighted by his final game. Michel saved his best for last and on New Year’s Day of 2018, he would run wild against the Oklahoma Sooners in the Rose Bowl. Michel ran for 181 yards on only 11 attempts. He would also catch the ball for 41 yards and he got into the end zone 4 times.
I have Sony Michel going off of the board late in the first round. It will be interesting to see who goes first between him and his teammate, Nick Chubb.
