The 2018 NFL Draft is almost here and we want to take a look at some of the best players that will be hearing their names called in the first rounds. Today we want to focus on the Tight End position. Next, let’s take a look at Mike Gesicki from Penn State University. He is the best tight end in the school’s history and will be a dynamite Pro.

Mike Gesicki was raised in Manahawkin, New Jersey. He not only excelled at football, but he was also one hell of a basketball and volleyball player in high school. He holds several school records, including the following:
Most Football Catches: 103
Most Receiving Yards: 1,817
Most Basketball Points: 1,866
Most Volleyball Blocks: 519
Gesicki played all four years at Penn State. But his freshman and sophomore years were not nearly as productive as he would be come as a junior and senior. He would have just 24 catches for 239 yards in his first two years and would only get into the end zone one time.

But Gesicki’s junior year was his break out. He would have 48 catches for 679 yards. He would average an incredible 14.1 yards per catch and scored 5 touchdowns. His phenomenal leaping skills would allow for quarterback Trace McSorely to throw jump balls to him and the smaller defensive backs could only look up.
His senior year was even better and he would have a career high in catches with 57 and in touchdowns with 9. He was the most feared tight end in the Big Ten Conference and clearly was ready for the next level. At 6’6 and 252 pounds, Gesicki is going to be an instant contributor to whichever team grabs him on draft night. He is as close to a sure thing in the eyes of most all NFL scouts.
