The 49 year old Pensacola native will be making his 75th appearance in a boxing ring, and his last one ever. It is so hard for legends to say goodbye to their sport, but with fighters... it seems they really have nothing to do if they can't fight for it. This fight will be a statement on an incredible career.

Scott Sigmon is the much younger fighter than Jones, and he will be acting as the opponent for the all time great's farewell bout. The 30-11 fight has been on a journeyman's struggle for the decade he has been boxing, and this in essence will be the biggest fight he's taken part in.

Sigmon has around half his wins and half his losses listed as knockouts, so he isn't a serious threat in the power or durability department. Even though Roy Jones in his prime would have schooled this young man... being 50 is no joke, and the faculties can leave at any time in the arena.
I look more forward to seeing Roy retiring than actually fighting... we know the work the man has put in since the early 90s and it is time for him to claim his spot as one of the greatest to ever lace up gloves. He may have had the greatest prime of any fighter... it's all subjective.

When we see Roy for the final time tonight, it will not only be emotional.. it will be celebrated in the way RJJ deserves it. I am happy the UFC decided to broadcast Island Fights 46 as they have never tampered in boxing before... but this is a sure fire great way to begin.
If this is the last of Roy, I just want to thank him personally for all the amazing memories. The wins over Hopkins and the moving up in weight... Roy is the height of most modern day welterweights and took the heat from heavyweights in their prime. Here's to you Roy... kick some ass tonight!
