Sir Alex Ferguson, former Manchester United manager was on Saturday rushed to a hospital for an emergency surgery for brain haemorrhage at Salford Royal Hospital.
The 76-year old Scots man underwent the surgery which was described as having “gone very well”, according to statements from Manchester United.
The club maintain that Sir Ferguson who had presented a commemorative trophy to Arsenal’s retiring Arsene Wenger at Old Trafford just the week before, would require a period of intensive care in order fully recover from the procedure.
Family of the Scot, who retired as manager of Manchester United in May 2013 have requested that their privacy and that of Sir Alex Ferguson be respected as he begins his recovery at the Salford Royal Hospital.
Sir Alex had managed Manchester United for 26 years and won 38 trophies during his time with the club. He is regarded as the most successful manager in the history of British football.
Sir Fergie mostly famously won the Treble (Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup) in England the very year he received his knighthood.
His trophy cabinet is filled with titles including 13 Premier Leagues, two Champions Leagues, five FA Cups, and four League Cups, making him the most successful British manager.
A lot of well-wishes and prayers are going out to him and his family during this challenging period, from Manchester United, current and former players, coaches, friends and football supporters all over the world.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been married since 1966 to his wife Cathy Ferguson and they have a son Darren Ferguson who is a manager and currently manages League One side Doncaster Rovers. However, he did not manage the team for their game encounter on Saturday against Wigan Athletic.
The football world and supporters of the former Manchester United manager are praying for his quick recovery to good health.
