Liverpool legend and former England international, Steven Gerrard has become the new club manager of Scottish football club, Rangers FC.
The former Liverpool maestro has been appointed on an initial four-year deal after signing the contract to replace interim manager Graeme Murty who had been holding the fort after the sacking of Pedro Caixinha back in October.
The 37-year old Steven Gerrard had been the youth coach of Liverpool’s Anfield youth side, but would move on to take up his first managerial role after a playing career that saw him captain the English national side and Liverpool FC.
Speaking to the Ranger’s website, Gerrard said he was honored to become the new manager of Rangers. He professed his admiration and respect for the Scottish club and its history and tradition. He further stated his desire to quickly take Rangers on a new journey to build on the success the club has achieved before now.
Ranger’s stated that the club would announce Gerrard’s backroom staff in due course; as they begin plans to integrate their new manager into the club and the Scottish league itself.
Steven Gerrard had played for Liverpool for over 19 years, where he made featured 710 times for the Anfield based side and won 9 trophies. He featured for England 114 times – one of the elite class of players to be capped over a 100 times for the Three Lions.
Gerrard who played in 6 major tournaments for England, also had the honor of captaining England at 3 of those tournaments in which he played. Steven Gerrard was also notably the captain of Liverpool for about 12 years, a position in which he was dubbed “Captain Fantastic”.
Gerrard left Liverpool in 2015 for a spell at the MLS with LA Galaxy. He subsequently retired in 2016 and joined the Anfield U-18 youth team where he made a big impact after initially rejecting an offer to managed MK Dons in the English lower division.
Chairman of Rangers FC, Dave King believes Steven Gerrard is the right man to take Rangers FC to the next level. King believes the appointment is one that brings a lot of special feeling to the club, the fans and Steven Gerrard; as they look towards a wonderful transition forward and a bright future for the club.

Yea...can't wait for that encounter too @emekasegun. It would surely be an interesting match-up.....something of a Master vs Student or Boss vs Employee encounter.

I'm a Hibs fan but to see Gerard make such a bold and risky move In his Coaching/Managing career with no experience is something to be respected, I hate rangers with a passion but good Luck to Steven in his future Management career.
