Here we go! Now that the hoopla and fireworks are over, it is time to get down to business. The 2018 Winter Olympic Games are now in full force. There is action all over several venues in and around PyeongChang, South Korea and we will soon get our first glimpse of Olympic medals. There will be 5 events on Saturday that will be medal races.
The Biathlon – This event will be the first event to have a Gold medal winner. It will be the women’s biathlon which consists of a 7.5 kilometer sprint.
Cross-country Skiing – This event will be a double featured women’s event. It will be 7.5 kilometer and a 7.5 kilometer skiathlon.
Speed Skating – This exciting event will be a fast paced and high velocity race for 3,000 meters and too will be a women’s event. This will be the first intense and highly anticipated events of the opening day.
Short-track Speed Skating – The men will finally have a shot at the podium as they race 1,500 meters around the ice rink. This may be the United States only shot at a medal in the opening day, but they are still underdogs against an extremely talented group.
Ski Jumping – This is the second men’s event of the day. This will be normal hill ski jumping and should be a fan favorite.
