The Yankees demolished Garrett Richards and the Angels 11-1 on Saturday night in Anaheim, en route to their eighth consecutive victory.

What’s impressive is that the Bombers were able to pound out 11 runs without use of the long ball. They struck early and often against Richards in this one. The Yankees batted around in the first inning, pushing five runs across to give the Yankees an early advantage. Gary Sanchez and Miguel Andujar each had RBI doubles in the inning.

They went right back to work in the second inning, this time sending 10 men to the plate in another five-run uprising. Aaron Judge delivered an RBI double, Aaron Hicks socked a two-run triple, then Neil Walker and Gleyber Torres each chipped in run-scoring singles.

In the game, Judge went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI. He’s hitting a robust .330/.463/.608 with seven homers, 18 RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

The kids continued to impress as well, as Miguel Andujar went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI and Gleyber Torres went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI of his own. Andujar is hitting a mighty impressive .312/.325/.610 with three homers and 12 RBI. Torres has now had three multi-hit games in his first seven big league contests and is hitting .296.

The Yankees didn’t even need the massive amount of run support in this one, as Masahiro Tanaka was outstanding on the mound. The right-hander punched out a season-high 9 batters over six innings of one-run ball. The only blemish on his day was a solo homer off the bat of Zack Cozart. He allowed just two hits and two walks in the contest. He’s now 4-2 with a 4.63 ERA and 1.06 WHIP on the season.

With their eight-game winning streak, the Yankees now sit at 17-9 on the season, two games behind the Red Sox for the top spot in the American League East.

The Angels with the loss fall to 16-11 and are now 1 ½ games behind the Astros in the American League West.

Yankees are rolling right now. They're really hitting the ball well - scoring runs and crushing home runs. Going to be another good race between them and Boston - big series this week with the Astros.

Yeah, and a heck of a start to that series today, spoiling a brilliant outing from Justin Verlander and overcoming the injury to Jordan Montgomery. Mighty impressive.

Yes it was - totally agree very impressive win. Right - Verlander was completely dominant and they still found a way to win it!

big Yankee fan for years..(obviously) they'll score a ton. Starters? well, which tanaka do we have for the long run? Sonny G.? shaky, Sevvy..(a stud) Montgomery solid young lefty...CC?? lol..always a liablitly..Cashman NEEDs one solid starter to add..(JMHO) thanks..p.s. see some of my sports stuff ( and market)..

Honestly, I think the rotation will be fine, provided that Montgomery's elbow issue isn't serious. Tanaka and Severino are a terrific 1-2 punch and Sabathia continues to defy age. Sonny Gray is a definite concern, but they have viable arms waiting in the wings with Chance Adams and Justus Sheffield. I can't imagine them making a deal for a high-end starter at the deadline unless someone hits the DL for an extended period of time.

excellent..agree.!! love Monty..let's hope it's nothing..CC is alweays a surprise..only die to hip/knee) never an arm issue. Tanaka? "if" healthy (arm)...thanks!! p.s. I've always liked Domingo German.

congratulation
what a great win!
