Yesterday, I showed a simple method about how to spot a winning opportunity in a Major League Baseball series, focussing on a team that's coming off a losing streak. Another factor in the decision included looking for a team in a motivated frame of mind to win, in this case the Baltimore Orioles returning home against their hated rivals, the New York Yankees.
In this game, I also liked the fact that the Orioles had one of their top pitchers taking the mound in Dylan Bundy, (6-3, 2.89 ERA). Bundy proved up to the task of dispelling their seven game losing streak. as the O's were able to edge the Yankees 3-2.
The way things played out yesterday, I don't see any reason to walk away from the Oriole's series with the Yankees yet. In Severino, the yankees don't have a lock down starter coming into the game and Tillman for the O's has avoided losing to date. I'll stick with Baltimore both one the nose as well as working the straight up win in a parlay with another bet.
One thing I like to do when I'm hopping to ride a team's potential win streak, is find a slightly surer thing to combine it with in a parlay. One particular bet I've had success with in the past is simply finding two teams on a hot streak, playing each other and bet the over/under for the game. The usual train of thought is to assume the over because the are winning and scoring runs while doing so.
The game I feel provides this opportunity is the Houston Astros at the Minnesota Twins. Both teams are leading their divisions and at least in the Astros case, are scoring runs currently. Houston is second only to the L.A. Dodgers with a run differential of 74 and while Minnesota is lagging with a -7, they're sitting on a thin one game lead with the Indians breathing down their necks. There seems to be motivation for the Twins to at least keep their end of the over bargain and cover 4.5 runs. The over for this game is currently 9.
Best bet for today: Straight up bet the Orioles to win also Parlay Orioles win with over in the Astros vs Twins. Hope to pull of both tickets, but have some cover with the single over bet in case the Orioles falter.
