I just looked it up. I was aware of it vaguely as a lung disease. But I see now that it can affect anyplace in the body. Mayo Clinic says "most people do very well with no treatment or only modest treatment. In some cases, sarcoidosis goes away on its own"
Also says:
"Some research suggests that infectious agents, chemicals, dust and a potential abnormal reaction to the body's own proteins (self-proteins) could be responsible for the formation of granulomas in people who are genetically predisposed".
This last sentence indicates they don't know much, but suspect it may be autoimmune. I will read much more and see if I can find out treatment programs, including lifestyle changes that may help.
So, so sorry. I know how this must distress you, but it is best to assume this will go away and she will be fine. Worry will only make things worse.
Thinking of you and reading more.
Hugs, AG
MORE INFO:
A newer blood test that is sometimes more useful....is a measurement of the soluble interleukin 2 receptor levels (sIL2R).(from the Cleveland Clinic
This seems like an important test, more related to the disease than the previous ACE test. A research article from Japan describes how interleukin 2 receptor levels are related to not only disease presence, but disease activity. So this is an important test to diagnose more accurately.
It seems that diagnosis of the disease is a challenge.
I think I will write my next blog about this and include all the information I can that might be helpful. I don't want you to be distressed. I have received a lot of bad medical news in my lifetime, and have survived all of it very well. So, be careful, but don't be alarmed.
I'm going to start my research tonight.
Peace, and comfort,
Your friend from across the sea
AG
Thank you so much dear friend! Now i understand why the doctors said she don't need medicine (except against the pain) and her body will recover ... Please don't worry about me, i am fine and she is feeling better right now with this diagnosis (and needing no medicine). ;-) Her Lung is involved too - you are right. (and her joints (what a funny word hihi) So, time will show the healing - i am sure - she is a positive thinking woman (like me ;-))
I hope you are interesting in this topic for research and don't do it only for me ;-) Big hugs! Kadna
