Hello guys, I have a quick question for you today;
When you think of AI, what's the first thing that comes to your mind?
I think for a lot of people, it's probably some robot and maybe even like the Terminator movies where they rise up, but AI these days means something very different from what we typically imagine. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being used in a ton of applications presently for all sorts of different major companies from Google to Amazon and they're gonna be using AI more and more as these technologies develop.
I thought it would be fun to go over specific uses for AI that you might not have thought of initially, it actually make sense and seem really cool that we will be able to use it in the near future.
What is Artificial Intelligence? (A simplified explanation)
On a basic level, it's just a way for a computer to learn to problem-solve based on its past mistakes and kind of create new ways to solve an issue where there is no definition given by a human programmer on how to do it. That's the idea, it's basically just really good at problem solving.
It's definitely not as easy to make this as it sounds and actually, things that humans are really good at that they find really easy, computers usually find pretty difficult. This is known as the “Moravec Paradox” and the idea is things that are simple as walking around, we don't even have to think about it, yet it is such an incredibly difficult and complex thing for a computer do.
The theory is that the reason we're good at it, is because we've had literally millions of years where our brain evolved to learn how to walk and be able to do that. Our brains have had millions of years to learn how to walk and it was kind of imprinted into our DNA, whereas a computer, it obviously has no idea, that's why you see all those robot videos where they're stumbling around.
At the same time, computers are able to learn pretty quickly if you code the AI to be able to do it right because it's able to try one thing very often, it just keep trying it over and over. It's like playing chess which they do exist, you can have it run a million games at once, whereas a person would have to spend years practicing playing chess against other people to even get good at it.
Another advantage computers have is once one computer learned something, it can be copied and pasted to every other computer. That doesn't work with humans unfortunately, it's not like the matrix where you can download a skill in your brain. If you want to learn how to do something, you have to spend a lot of time doing it and then only you get that skill.
How can we apply this to actual uses?
I think a lot of different situations will be visually based. Google lens actually did a demonstration when it first came out. There was a picture and someone was behind a fence, it was able to use AI to determine what that picture should be without the fence.

Normally, your brain fills in what's behind those chain links, it just kind of knows even though you can't see it but when you think of it in your head, you can imagine it without the chain links. A computer is not very good at that but they used AI to learn what the trees look like and what they should look like based on looking at millions of trees. Stuffs like this would be pretty cool where it's based on teaching the computer what things should look like and it can realize and reconstruct it.
Here's one fun example we can do;
I want you to imagine any water bottle, put it in your brain and you could probably imagine a hundred different ways of how a water bottle could look, like the color, wrapper, material and how big it is. You can rotate it around and you know how it looks like from the top but computers only recently have started to be able to recognize objects.
Another use that I think will be really cool, will be computer troubleshooting. When we are using the computer, if an error pops up a lot of times, you know it kind of gives a little bit vague description of what went wrong, we might know how to fix it but we don't know why that happened within the program and sometimes, we don't know how to fix it at all.
We generally have to research, google and search on how to fix that problem. Hopefully in the future, this kind of issue could be solved using AI.
This was interesting and I'm sure a lot of you guys have ideas of your own, that should be pretty fun and we can discus about it in the comments. If you enjoyed this article, don’t hesitate to smash that upvote button down below.

@ememovic I ove this topic mainly because it freaks me out. Firstly just to remnid you about your post before about supercomputers and super conductors.
Imagine if we create super computer, even quantum super comupters that use super conductors to transmit information, so there is no heat production and minimal information lost; only that associated with quantum fluctuations.
Now let's add an AI to the mix, if it is truely AI in the sense it decides to choose to solve its own problems then we have something that can potentially change the world, in an instant.
On the negative side it could hack nuclear launch codes in a fraction of a second. There are a list of other crazy things like that but theres no need to state the obvious here.
On the plus side it could solve the hardest problems in science within seconds and potentially take us to a new level of civilisation.
If something like this happens we must be very careful because the hardest thing we can imagine possible can be solved by these things instantly.
Taking it to the extreme it may try to implent it's self within the human body/brain through merging robatics and biology.
Honestly guys this is so crazy it blows my mind, and we are on the cusp of being able to implement it.

Oh my! This would have been a full steemit post.
It's unfortunate that we are more focused on the positive side of AI, there's no denying the fact that AI would solve complex problems with the help of Quantum Computers and evolve the world but we should also be cautious of the disadvantages. As you mentioned, in the wrong hands, it could be used to hack nuclear launch codes, that could be a disaster and a threat to human race, so we really need to be careful.
It's a privilege to have such a rich comment beneath my post, I wish I've got enough steem power to upvote this comment. Well done and keep steeming.👍

Thank you for the post. Upvoted, keep them coming. When I think of AI, the my thoughts drift to bigdata and datamining used by advertisers for marketing purposes. I can see how this intelligence may be helpful to locate prospective future customers. My inclination is to favor peer to peer driven marketing, by acknowledging engagement like upvotes. That being said, it would be great if there was an app or interface to configure a sort of AI on a personal level, where one can tailor suggestions of posts or people to follow based on self configured and managed parameters to drive the AI. I digress, another thought that does come to mind is the terminator, hehe.

Cool! Glad to read your thoughts but the terminator part scares me alot, when AI becomes too smart, it could be a threat to humanity. My thoughts though.😁

So many clues
Technology has really taken over
About your question when I hear about artificial intelligence
All I know is making a robot think like a human
I think it exist because there are alot of guys behind the computer trying to play God

I like the Google lens that could delete unwanted things.
So many possibilities.
Perv Alert! lol
I was astounded by AI when i saw the videos of AI beating humans in GO and DOTA. I would love if you touch a little on that subject.
I didn't understand the technical terms they used in the video but just general idea.
And, the possibilities in GO is more than there are atoms in the Universe?

I haven't gotten the time to play any of those video games yet, but I will someday.

more and more part of our lives is everything that is inefficient to technology. Is a reality. Of course, it is not within the economic reach of all, that if I consider it a great limitation.

AI is no doubt an interesting development on technology. I actually did a course on this in school and I can assure you that we are just at the surface of what this technology can do.
