Hey friends I took a decision to be posting on what am taught about at the University what do you think

we start with operating system (os)

Definition of operating system

it is a programme that controls the execution of application programmes and act as an interface with the user of a computer and the computer hardware

a more common definition is that the operating system is the one program running at all times on the computer with all also being application programs

an operating system is concerned with the allocation of resources and services such as memory, processors, devices and information. the operating system corresponding includes programs to manage these resources such as traffic controllers, a schedular, memory and arrangements module and a file system

functions of operating systems

1.convenience: An os (operating system) makes a computer convenient to use.

2.ability to evolve: An operating system should be constructed in such a way as to permit the effective development, testing and introduction of new system functions without interfering with services at the same time

3.efficiency: An os allows the computer system resources to be used in an efficient manner

NB: before you open, for example ms word and start typing, the place where the ms word application is, is called the hard disk but at the point of opening the application, it goes to the RAM {main memory}

IPO- input processing output
operating system can be defined as a system software that manages computer hardwares for optional utilisation
