The informal means of education that was carried out in Africa.
I just stumbled upon some African short stories which they would normally tell at nights under the moon light.

Based on the time one might read this, he might be long into the afternoon. I just hope to give the same feeling as boy who sits under the fig tree, listening to his grandma tell tales that he would lock up in their hearts like valuable jewels and do same from a generation to the next.

I would really go for a short one . There are always moral lessons after the stories to indicate you learned something.
I would tell about the tortoise and the lizard but since we are but improvising, let your imaginations loose to get a near experience.

Imagine a big mango tree, old and graceful has heard a lot of stories and secrets. You are sitting under its ever protecting shades looking up towards the sky deep blue with clouds scattered across the sky and give for THE MOON. It a cold night, breeze come flowing harmonizing with the chirping of the crickets. You are sitting on a mat probably looking at your crush and letting me play GRANDPA.

THE LIZARD AND THE TORTOISE

Once upon a time .
In the animal Kingdom the lizard was very respected as he was a good orator.
He got lots of events as he was very honest and diligent.
The tortoise however was his rival and was not really successful as he showed up late to events, charged real high and was lazy though he was a very good comedian.

The lizards fame spread all over the land and beyond that he was to cover the Kings daughter's wedding ceremony.
This was it for the tortoise .
He had to stop the lizard. He thought about it for weeks till he came up with an idea.
He invited the lizard for a dinner. The lizard honoured the invite and after which the tortoise gave him gifts.

The tortoise payed the parrot to make news about how he invited the lizard.
The lizard therefore returned the favour to save his reputation. Tortoise asked that his meat be prepared with the bones.
During the dinner tortoise asked that they feed each other as a sign of peace and the lizard agreed.

He picked up a piece of meat and gave to the tortoise . The tortoise then picked up the meat with bones and cut off the lizards tongue as he fed him.
The lizard tried to talk but couldn't he just shook his head back and forth.

The lizard felt betrayed and wanted justice but on getting to the king he could say nothing. The king was angry as he thought he made a mockery of him and through him out and tortoise got the event. Since that day the lizard haven't been able to say anything.

MORAL LESSONS
Don't trust people who you know may have bad motives.

Be diligent and hardworking.

Don't plan another man's down fall for selfish reasons.

You can tell me what you got from it.
