Today we'll talk about fruits and our health.
Edible fleshy and seed like associated structures, such as apples, banana, grapes, lemon, oranges, strawberries etc, are referred to as fruit.
Many of these fruits, including fleshly fruits ( apple, kiwifruit, mango, peach, pear, watermelon etc.) or commercially valuable as human food, eaten both fresh and as jams, marmalade and other preserves. Fruits can also be used in manufactured foods like (cakes, cookies, ice cream, etc.) or beverages such as fruit juice e.g. apple juice, orange juice, etc. or alcoholic beverages e.g. brandy, fruit beer, wine etc.

But the best way to take fruits is in the raw form because it still contains the natural nutrients and sugar. Other forms have being processed and other additives have been added so it is no longer natural and when taken in excess is injurious to our health.

Large amount of fiber is present in fresh fruits, vitamin C, and water. Regular consumption of fruit is generally associated with reduced risk of several diseases and helps to reduce aging process.
We have to handle fruits properly to reduce the risk of food contamination and food borne illness. Fresh fruits should be carefully selected; at the store, bruised or damaged fruits should not be selected and when cut into pieces to be taken later should be refrigerated or surrounded by ice.
Rinsing of fruits before eating is essential, storing fruits in a cold place I.e. refrigerator is necessary to extend the life of the fruit and to kill food borne bacteria.

Eat fruits regularly as they aid digestion and remember to eat them before meals to help the GIT to release those digestive enzymes to act on the food accurately. Eating fruits after meals have no effect and the nutritional benefits are not fully gained. So eat a lot of fruits and remember "AN APPLE A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY"
