#2. How Nuclear Fusion Is Related To ITER Project?

in steemstem •  7 years ago

Hello Steemit!

Today I am writing my post about the Nuclear Fusion & ITER Project which will be the way to endless clean energy for next generation. In my post by reading different sources and collecting information I tried to give the detailed information about the project and how it will going to work. Apart from that your thoughts and opinions heartily welcome!

Let us visit the post to know more about it!!

History of Nuclear Fusion

Source

A person with very little formal education before outbreak of Second World War had developed his passion for Nuclear Physics. He proposed confining of plasma in an electrostatic field by a letter in 1950 to Stalin but didn't got any response. His second letter to Central Committee caused a stir and then he was invited to Moscow to discuss his ideas and the committee was impressed by his originality and inventiveness!! Sakura then recommended his work on Nuclear Fusion to start it right away. The first Magnetic Plasma containment device t1 was created in 1957 and the second t3 was created in 1968 which achieved its required temperature levels.

France was largest exporter of electricity of Europe last year, but in-spite of that it is still looking for new sources of clean energy. France ranks second in terms of highest nuclear power stations consisting of total 58 Nuclear Power Plants and producing about 78% of electricity for country's energy need.

Radioactive wastes are from where the Nuclear Fusion comes in but what's the difference Nuclear Fusion is nuclear fission isn't normally found in nature it's the process by which heavy elements split to form lighter elements and has been created by mankind to make power stations and nuclear bombs.

In a typical reaction neutrons hits an uranium isotopes which causes it to destabilize and split into smaller elements and ultimately neutrons giving off the energy but unfortunately giving off the radioactive waste too which is very hard to decompose of safelyNuclear Fusion.

ITER Project stands for International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, and is the future's clean energy- an endless clean energy. As I have already explained earlier Nuclear Fusion is the reaction that gives us Sun its energy and scientists here on earth want to replicate that!!

How *ITER Project * Works?

Well, we all know that all atoms consists of a nucleus surrounded by electrons and the nucleus consists of protons and neutrons. In the Nuclear Power Station process, every neutron is sent for the collision course with the nucleus of an atom and here the fission or splitting creates the energy which is used by the Nuclear Power Stations to heat water that is then used to generate the electricity.

Hope I was able to fulfill your expectations of gaining knowledge by satisfying you writing this post. Hope you all like the information provided in the article. Any queries or opinions you want to share are heartily welcome!!
