Hi everyone...,
hopefully always healthy and creative.
for this time I will discuss about hybrid network topology, maybe for topology I have not discussed in my first post about network topology,[here]
because this network topology may be newest among other network topology, but already many also have used this topology in doing design network.
Hybrid topology is an amalgamation of several (two or more) different network topologies. For example when a network using Ring topology, combined with another network using star topology; then a new topology formed from the combination of these two network topologies is called the Hybrid topology. If the combined network has the same type of topology, then merging the two networks is not a hybrid topology. For example a network with bus topology coupled with other networks that also use bus topology, then merging these two networks remains a bus topology, not a hybrid topology.
Hybrid topology combines two or more different network topologies in such a way that the resulting network topology does not refer to existing topology standards; does not display certain topological characteristics. This topology often produces a complex, elusive topology layout, because it combines various topological structures. Nevertheless the use of this topology rarely causes problems.
Just like any other topology, hybrid network topology is also not perfect. This topology has several advantages and disadvantages as follows:
Advantages Hybrid Topology
- Can unite two or more different network topologies.
- Flexible and efficient; can be applied to different network environments, without the need to overhaul the previously established network topology. In addition it can reduce wasted network space.
- Customization, allows customization of the way network settings to achieve specific goals.
- The data flow can work perfectly even though it runs in a number of different network traffic as a result of combining different network topology configurations.
- It's easy to add new nodes or peripheral connections, even if the network topology is different.
- When one of the links in the network is interrupted, the rest of the network links will not come into trouble.
- Network speed is consistent because it combines the advantages and eliminates the weaknesses of each network topology.
Disadvantages of Hybrid Topology
- Network management tends to be difficult, because the incorporation of several topologies causes the network structure to be complex and elusive.
- The cost to build this topology is quite expensive, because it uses many hubs and cables to connect the network.
- Network maintenance costs are also quite expensive. Hubs should continue to work even if one of the nodes in the network is not working, because the hub must manage multiple types of networks at once.
- Network installation and configuration is complicated, because it must connect several different topologies and at the same time must also ensure all nodes work properly.
maybe up here first my discussion of hybrid topology, there may still be many shortcomings of my discussion because the network topology is still new to me, but I hope my post can be useful for you all.
