Wellbore Stability Analysis - Data Loading, validation, editing and QC

In this post I will take you through Data Loading, validation, editing and QC for doing a basic welbore stability Analysis using GeoFit platform of Antaeus

When you click the Geofit link given above - you will see below screen

And when you give your login credentials then you will see below screen

Data for quite a large number of wells for Asia region is already loaded. List of all the well available is shown on left hand side.

Let us select one well - say Ratnagiri-01. When you click on well you see the list of available log data in this well as seen below screen

An if you click on database management icon and search for ratnagiri-01 well then it shows details of all the logs available as shown in below screen

Logs available in this well are - BS, CALI, DEPTH, DTCO, DTSM, GR, NPHI, PHIE, PHIT, RES_DEEP, RES_SHL, RHOB, SP, SP_1, SWE, and VSH.

Now let us display the available logs in 2-D View. Below is the display of all the logs in 2-D view as commonly viewed by Geoscientists with default scales.

key observation of the data are:

  1. The borehole is shallow as TD is apprx 1500m
  2. Borehole is drilled with a bitsize of 8.5". And caliper stays close to 8.5" throughout the borehole -indicating that the mud weight used to drill the borehole was optimum.
  3. Since there is no deviation data available so it is being assumed that borehole is vertical
  4. The DTCO and DTSM are also indicating soft formations
  5. Since borehole is in good shape, and there is no apparent issue with any of the log so it is considered good for further analysis without any need for editing.

Below is the close look at reservoir section where there are hydrocarbons in this borehole

Is it not the best platform for Petrotechnical analysis and collaboration? I am convinced. Additional functionalities are being added each day by various developer teams from around the world. Soon it will be a dominating Petrotechnical platform in E&P Industry.
