The Flappy Bird-Drone (Robird)

While browsing through the internet, I came across this movie Sully (also known as Sully: Miracle on the Hudson). Sully is a 2016 American biographical drama film directed by Clint Eastwood and written by Todd Komarnicki. It's a story which is based on the January 15th 2009 incident where a flock of birds flew into the engine of a plane therefore making it (the plane) to make an emergency landing into a chilly Hudson river.

We all know drones are aircraft's that can be navigated or controlled from the ground with the help of a GPS.

That brings us to Robird. Robirds are remotely controlled robotic birds of prey, with the realistic and weight of it's living couterpart. Robird uses flapping wing flight as a means of propulsion, with a flight performance comparable to real birds. Based on nature itself, the Robird® offers new and exciting possibilities in bird control.

Traditionally, airports, fruit farms at harvest season and others have chased off birds by using a highly skilled falconer to fly a trained bird of prey in an area. Clear Flight Solutions’ Robird is the remote-controllable, doesn’t-need-feeding version of the same idea.

Robird is designed to mimic a raptor. It flies by flapping it's wings and steers by using two tails fins. Raptors are generally predators with hooked bills for tearing flesh and strong, piercing talons for grabbing and holding preys. Birds like hawks, eagles, vultures, falcons are all among birds considered to be raptors.

Presently Robirds are not been sold as products but are being offered as services. The robirds are currently being trialed in the Netherlands. At one landfill, they've seen a 75percent decrease in bird visits.
