“Google’s Self Driving Car” is considered as the most remarkable invention in last ten years. It is the top technology invention that has the big possibility of changing lifestyle. Last year more than 1.2 Milions people were dead in road accident. Among these accidents 90% of accidents were occured due to human errors. These cars are expected to replace other cars and reduce the accidents soon. The self driving car project was started in 2008 by Google. The testing of self driving cars was started from 2009. It has already became first vehicle to travel more than 100,000 miles without driver.

How is the car?


The car uses special software, accurate map and cobination of censors to run in the road. It contain eight sensors. It have small screen where we can see the current speed and weather. With the help of rear-mounted aerials, car receives geolocation from the satelites. In a rear wheel ultrasonic sensor is used to view the car movement.
The self driving cars costs anout $150,000 in equipment, which also includes LIDAR system of $70,000. Velodyne 64-beam laser is used to generate the map of the sorrounding. It creates a detailed map and combine it with the high resoultion maps of the world. The rangefinders are placed on the top. Which will produce various kinds of data models that allows the car to drive itself.

It also has a emergency stop button. If passanger need to stop the car with some difficulties then they can use this emergency button. IT is also capable of obeying road rules and road signs. It can easily recognize cars and vehicles. If a car is passing by it, it automatically slows down and give some space to another car. When the destination is reached, It reminds passangers to pick their luggage.
Waymo is an autonomous car development company. It is also the subsidary of Google’s parent Company, Alphabet INC.
How Many Sensors Does The Car Have?

The self driving car have eight sensors. With the help of sensors it can easily detect other vehicles, traffic lights and road signs.

Some Facts Abot Google Self Driving Cars


A. According to google self driving car has covered 1.12 milion kilometers without accidents. At that distance the car was hitted by another vehicle from back one times.
B. Waymo has already tested self driving cars in Texas, California, Arizona, Michigan, Neveda and Washington.
C. The first driverless ride was in 2015, they gave a chance to a blind man in Texas.
D. Google has spent more than $1.1 bilion on the self driving cars project between 2009 and 2015.
E. In June 2015 Google publish a report that suggest there were 12 collisions. Involving self driving cars. And in july 23 self driving cars were involved in minor collisions.
F. Chris Urmson - Project Director announce that the self driving cars will be available for public upto 2020.

Every years many peoples have lost their lives because of road accident. Maximum accidents occurs due to the human errors and only few are due to road conditions and other factors. I think these self driving cars can play a vital role to reduce the road accidents. But they are still in testing phase so lets hope they will be available for public soon.
