I’ve been saying for countless years…

“A Laptop should never have been named a laptop!”
The open air vents underneath the chassis is the path the circulated air must flow from. If a laptop in sitting on cloth, or a bed cover, or a couch instead of a desktop, then all those hair and dust fibers will be sucked into the fan. And after enough time, will clog the exhaust vents.
While your laptop won’t “break”, it will run hotter because the CPU won’t be able to cool off sufficiently to keep from overheating, which will shorten the life of the CPU.
Keep your laptop on a clean desktop and good luck
thank you @steemerhrn........for your great information.....its really true...i appreciate you.....next time i will be careful.....

This is true for older laptops but in newer laptop the exhausts are in the side. But most portable laptops(not beefed up) is used for typing, its fans might not when start.
So what I am trying to say is that most modern laptops can be used on the lap(especially the thin under-powered ones).
