Promoting Steemit - Going down inside the Large Hadron Collider at CERN with steemSTEM

in steemstem •  7 years ago  (edited)

As you are all probably aware of by now, the steemSTEM community is currently organizing its first meetup. And as a group of science lovers, what could be better than meeting in a famous research location?

To achieve this, we chose to meet up at CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland! However our meetup will not just be about exploring CERN… We will also go underground, and see the Large Hadron Collider from a few meters away! A dream for many scientists from all over the world.

This is an extremely unique opportunity, and it’s one that the members of the steemSTEM project/community get to experience ONLY because of doors opened up by STEEM/Steemit! Because of how unique this is, we feel it’s a really great opportunity to promote STEEM, the steemit platform, and of course our steemSTEM community! For more information on the steemSTEM project, the best place to check is our winter update. The steemSTEM team will be documenting the tour, with the hope that future Steemit promotional materials will be constructed out of the images and video that is shot as the community members tour this world class research facility.

How is all of this possible? Well, we (@steemstem) have the right connections…

A group of 20 Steemians will meet at CERN, on February 8th - 9th, to have fun, chat about science and technology (we are steemSTEM after all) and visit the place. In particular, they will be allowed to go down inside the Large Hadron Collider (the LHC) and visit the CMS detector. CMS is a huge magnet that allows detection of what is going on in the very highly-energetic collisions that are happening at the LHC.

Some more practical details now.

Who

Our 20 participants are, alphabetically ordered: @alexs1320, @ana.luiza, @aurel.proorocu, @bendelgreco, @ceybiicien, @dber, @ertwro, @fredrikaa, @grandpere, @howo, @justtryme90 (+1 guest), @kerriknox (+1 guest), @lemouth, @reggaemuffin, @saunter, @scienceangel, @suesa, @tristan-muller

When: February 8th-9th, 2018

Most of us will arrive on the 8th of February, and we will meet in the evening for dinner, in Meyrin (at a steak place or an Italian place, TBD). The CERN visit will start on the 9th in the morning (10:00AM) and ends at 6:00 PM, roughly.

The detailed agenda

  • We will meet on the 8th around 8:30 PM in Meyrin (Switzerland) to go to a restaurant and have food, drinks and fun. This event is open to anyone, but please let us know (on our dedicated discord channel) so that we can arrange the practical details.

  • We will be scattered across Geneva and Saint-Genis for lodging, but the idea is to meet at the CERN main entrance at 10:00 AM. We will have 5 cars available to help us to move around the place (the LHC is a 27-kilometers-long circular collider; definitely not walkable). Thanks in advance to our 5 drivers @alexs1320, @aurel.proorocu, @dber, @justtryme90, @tristan-muller.

  • We will visit the two permanent exhibitions of CERN, namely the Microcosm and the Universe of Particles. They are really worthy to visit. @lemouth will be our private guide. For this part of the meetup, any last-minute participant could come. Please contact us (again) on discord for details.

  • We will have lunch on the way to CMS, located in Cessy. There is a nice Indian place in Ferney-Voltaire (France). By the way, Cessy is also a place where Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the web, lived some time ago.

  • During the first part of the afternoon, @lemouth will give a particle physics crash course so that you could understand what you will be supposed to see during the visit of CMS and of the LHC. He has started to post some lecture notes on steemit. #1, #2, #3 and #4. The slides are (partly) available on google drive.

  • We will go down to the LHC and get a private tour of CMS from 17:00 to 18:00. We will get two CMS guides just for us so that the meetup participants can enjoy this as much as possible.

The meetup will end right after the visit.

Rules

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when visiting CERN. All visitors must carry their ID or passport when they are on site. Moreover, please read this document with the safety rules for the visit.

And for those not attending?

No worries. We plan to take plenty of pictures and also do some video recording to bring the experience home for you all to share as well. This looks to be an amazing community building event!

All SBD rewards of this post will be used to support the trips of the 20 participants, as well as to to fund the @steemstem project functioning and future activities.

Yes it is

You had good rank

V wel done.

mind = blown

👍

I just joined the discord! Thank you for sharing the link.

You are welcome :)

i was there last week :)

You missed us. Will you still be in Geneva in 10 days? :D

yeepee !

hello... i upvoted your blog and kindly upvote my blog as well...

Can't wait to go!
If ever there was a real example of a STEEM community providing a unique opportunity for its members to do something otherwise impossible, this would surely be it!

We are pushing the frontiers further ;)

I definitely wouldn't have expected something like this. Way to add even more value to the community!

kudos

This just goes to prove there is no limits to what can be achieved on steemit, massive congratulations.

Indeed, steemit just seems to open so many doors.

Next, perhaps, we can get a tour of the European Space Agency and meet an astronaut (wink, wink).

I for one am excited both to meet so many community members in person for the first time, as well as for this amazing opportunity to actually get to see this piece of equipment! Extremely exciting! I think this will be amazing promotional material for steemit, and I look forward to working with others to ensure that the material we capture becomes something that can really recruit people here.

count me in,im promoting our community here in my city even if im new to this.. :)
thanks for sharing..
:-)

I'm probably the 1st person in my country promoting steem, here in Republic of Moldova

That's amazing! Keep it up!

I join my voice to yours (as usual these days)!

I'll see what we can do ;) we have plenty of people with cameras and recording for sound, so you can at least expect a good amount of video and pictures!

That will be very interesting to experience something that detects the heart of cosmos.

Very excited for the meet up guys, I'll be tuning in for that.

Anyone ever tried to build a particle accelerator before?

I've never built one, and I've only ever seen a very small one before. The LHC is certainly a wild machine unlike anything I've ever seen before.

That would be awesome! Looking forward to it.

Looking forward to checking out the videos and pictures @fredrikka . Awesome choice for a meet-up location.

We will try, for sure. From the underground, I think this won't be possible, but for the rest I think it is fine (as the connection may not be that great when you are 100 meters under the ground :)

I'm improving at OBS. I'll give it a try in Dlive.

Yes please! :D

Congratulations: This Post has been sponsored with $100+ SBD by @fyrstikken - You should see some serious magic happen over the next 2 hours as the @frontrunner guilds will vote up this post because of @booster and then you will get real serious attention from the audience who will see you on the trending list. Have a great MEETUP at CERN. You guys ROCK!

Thanks a lot guys! This will give a boost to the entire steemstem project (and not only the meetup), which makes me very happy!

Thank you @booster team and also a huge thanks to @fyrstikken for this sponsored vote. We are going to try our best to make this meetup memorable!

AWESOME!

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Awesome indeed, happy for the discord link. Let me join asap

Amazing!! This community knows no bounds! Next Steem meetup...the MOON (or at least the International Space Station).

Well, that's a goal for the future I guess!

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

What an awesome opportunity! One day I'll be sure to make it to one of these gatherings! Maybe next year :)

Maybe consider hosting in Australia next. We don't have a LHC, but we have the one and only "The Dish"!

r600186_3901806.jpg

(no bias of course ;) )

Wow good communication

This will be us in one or two years from now? :D

We already have good communication ;)

Not yet with people from the other side of the galaxy ;)

Yet

Are Nigerians invited?

I think we are full on the 20 slots at the moment, but there will be more meetups.

They can still join us for the food and drinks, as well as for the visit of the exhibitions in the morning. But this is a long trip from Nigeria for eventually not going down inside the LHC. Therefore, I am not sure I would do it in their case.

Everyone was invited, but for the visit down to the LHC, we are complete. As mentioned in the post, a bunch of planned activities have however no limit in terms of number of participants.

This sounds good to me, although a bit far :D

Haha, imagine what it's like living here... the whole world is a bit far :p

This being said, I'd kind of love a good excuse to hit up Europe again and CERN would be amazing! Have an awesome time guys!

Funnily enough, I am invited by an Australian institute to give lecture in Tuscany this summer :p

Tuscany?! That's pretty classic Aussie though, use any excuse to get away to Europe :)

Are they Canadian somehow? Tagging @Kryzsec :D

The whole world is a bit far, so accurate! Although New Zealand is further still.

I wish I am based in Europe so I get a chance to visit LHC. But I am based in Australia. I haven't been to the big dish yet so if it is hold here next time that will be awesome. Apparently we are also get the forefront of quantum computing research, although those labs are pretty boring to visit (trust me I have worked in one for three years)

It looks like it's going to be a blast of epic proportions!

It will! :)

"well, we have the right connections"

Steemstem meetup. February 2018.

Cool fredrikaa.png
I want my meme face to be like this! :D

I will make you those glasses in real life. They actually look cool.

Hahahahahhahaaaaa... Funny face

How did you find such an accurate picture of us all?

Not that difficult after all xD

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Russian spies. They can get you anything these days.

Tch, damn spies are everywhere

My smile is so well represented on this picture :p

lol :D

I'm the one chewing cereal.

Sigh, I am the one raging in the background... I suspect.

I have an idea for my own meme. I still need to make the picture happen. :D

Hahahahah.. This is hilarious

Wow, thats an epic meetup! It would be great o go there one day as I have been running CERN particle collision data on #gridcoin for many years.

Maybe if we organize a second one in 2019!@ But let's start on the first even for now :)

I'm actually helping voluntarily to make a website on WordPress in order to bring more people to the Steemit community. If every Steemian will bring one more person we will double the community!

You should contact @howo.

@bitton I totally agree your suggestion.
We are doing the best we can to promote steemit in our community here as well.
The more the merrier.

This makes up for one hell of an idea! Science-enthusiast groups should have all the support the Steem community can manage! Will follow and will be on the watch for your posts, guys; education on science is of great importance in our current times. Great initiative!

Thank you!

This will be so much fun!! I wish you guys have a wonderful time and do keep us updated!! Those of us who can't make it will have to make do with your stories xD xD So yeah, really looking forward to the posts you guys make about the trip!!

I am confident about the appearance of many future readings ;)

Hehe for sure!! I'll also try to read through the discord channel from time to time!! I'm pretty sure there will loads of awesome chat too :D

I have actually been meaning to be active on the steemstem discord, but time has been too cruel to me :(

Time is cruel to all of us man! The juggling act of life is quite difficult.

Can you stick your head in their black hole they are hiding and tell us what's inside please? :P

your head would get sucked into a black hole.

Yes but at least we would know whats inside

Do you think there will be aliens?

Could you get your head back out to tell the story though?

Only I could because I'm actually Doctor Manhatten

Really? Well then put on some damn clothes. :P

This thread is hilarious :D

Let it never end :D

No black hole has been produced, as any other new phenomenon, unfortunately...

This is so cool! I'm looking forward to seeing and reading about the tour once you're finished ;)

I will take pictures ^^

And some will also film ;)

Even better! Will you film the particle physics lecture? That would certainly be very nice if you uploaded to DTube!

I can't film my own lecture, but I am sure you can ask one of the 19 others :p

Haha, that's a good point. I guess I worded myself poorly in my post, but anyway, I'm looking forward to it once it reaches us who could not make the trip :)

I will be bringing a gopro and plan to record the particle physics lecture. So that will work, but if someone has better equipment of course we will default to that.

Alright, that's great! I'm looking forward to seeing it :)

That's good to hear! :D

Buddy, I am waiting for your tour completion. I also want to read what you got there ^^

That's an exclusive opportunity ! I wonder what would happen if bernie & haejin attend this meetup, put them inside the Large Hadron and then collide both of them with light speed....LOL

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Why so much violence? ;)

Can't wait to meet all of you guys! Going to the LHC is literally a dream coming true!

Glad to meet you too! 10 days left, give or take :p

It's going to be an amazing time! I look forward to meeting everyone as well.

It's really incredible to see a meetup in such an unusual place, difficult to reach for the common people and also known by all the best scientists on the planet! One of the most beautiful display case for Steemit! @ned ned should be angered :-D !

I took a look at your @steemstem blog and I am impressed to see all the work you are doing with your small team (at least not so small now.)!

Just this month I'm already taking over all this work, I can't even imagine for a year and this year is going to be a busy one because Steemit is growing at an incredible speed!

(For the first 3 articles, the quotations come from @lemouth's comments under each of the respective articles. They will give you a small idea of the work accomplished.)

I want to emphasize that with our bi-weekly distilled, we can shed light on 14 posts from 14 authors. This may sound a large number, but this is actually a selection of 14 out of 321 for last week :) ...

For these only 3 days, we had to pick 6 posts out of 170. The steemSTEM growth is continuing amazingly...

I insist on the last sentence of the post. Due to the difficulty to chose 7 posts out of more than 300 (we upvoted 331 posts last week), the distilled will be posted twice a week so that it could feature 14 posts.

I hope that the Steemit community will become aware of the quality of the work being done and, above all, the magnitude of the task! I hope that @steemstem will soon be able to fly on its own and be able to compensate the whole team correctly because since Steemit has grown the curation has become a (almost) full-time job!

Good luck to all the team for this year 2018 which promises to be very busy! :-D

Thanks for this nice comment. As I said to many, we are just a bunch of people trying to do some good here with the means we have. And to push the frontiers further! :)

All steemit fans and the Steemit community will thank you very much ! I hope get your further news. congratulate on you all

You guys are lucky for such an amazing site to meet!

If you know the right people, amazing things are possible!

We also made the right efforts to make it happen :)

That looks amazing! I've been interested in LHC for some years. Amazing breakthroughs happening there and I look forward to more in the not too distant future! Enjoy the trip!

Can't wait to hear how this turns out. Good luck travelling to CERN for everyone who plans to attend.

Sad you couldn't make it! Maybe to the next meetup we have?

I'll definitely try!

You will have to live with our pictures and videos for this time... It is a pity not to have you there, but as said above, maybe for the next one ^^

My son is studying electronics engineering and I hope to get him interested to join steemit and write. I am glad I found your page. Now I can coax him further. All the best for your meet and hope to see great photos and videos

Feel free to advertise steemSTEM to him! He will be welcome :)

Thanks, I will

Scientists failed to mention the most dominant particle in the multiverse.

the-physics-of-the-universe.jpg

Lol. This is a good one! I should add it to my slides :)

Thanx! Michio Kaku is no longer funny--let's make theoretical physics funny again!

Kaku.... Heh... After saying to the media things that were totally wrong, back in 2013 when the Higgs was discovered: no thanks...

Yep--Kaku can be sloppy not just sometimes but almost all the time. It's just getting worse every day and the sense of humor he brings is gradually diminishing. Given that, who do you think is the most legitimate physics popularizer these days?

I don't know exactly, but definitely someone who say correct things. The general audience needs facts. I think Brian Greene is very good (and internationally known).

Spot on!

This is really good 😁😁

Great Job and a Good Information as well especially for me.

On the off chance that anytime there was a bona fide instance of a STEEM social order giving a unique opportunity to its people to achieve something for the most part unimaginable, this would be it!

I'll in addition endeavor to look at the distinction channel from time to time!!What a staggering open portal! One day I'll influence a point to influence it to one to of these social gatherings! Possibly one year from now :
'.gif

This is what we are already trying to do, with the means we have, don't we? :)

when can i get this oppotunity

steemSTEM and its management deserve this. Great work through and through. Even though I won't be part, I am really glad the exposure this would bring to our awesome community. Have fun guys and remember to bring some particles home xD

Well we hope it enables both our steemSTEM community to grow but more importantly the total steemit community to grow!

I totally agree. We are already setting the pace. We can be a frontier for promoting steem and steemit in general by making quality contributions from our end. Have you guys thought of inviting one or two media people to cover the meetup? even if it's just a small part.

We will at least try to bring our own particles home :D

Alfa Romeo is Ready, we are ready :D
Go CERN!

I hope this is the car with which you will come :)

That's amazing! You are so fortunate, and lucky! LhC is Definitely on my bucket list!

Steemit pushes the frontiers further! :D

Many things are made possible because of STEEM/Steemit

I have many colleagues at CERN, definitely an interesting experience to have. It is a place where many memories can be made! :)

Are you a particle physicist? We may know each other in real life then ;)

wow even you also donate your steem doller to the poor people.nice thats great.i saw your image.thank you very much…

We will donate the rewards to all participants to the meetup. All of them. No exception :)

This is an expensive endeavor for many people who are coming from all over, so it's best to support our community members as best we can. :)

The best way to run a project IMO.

if only i lived a bit closer, in Europe for example.. LOL
you guys will surely have fun !!
@lemouth no funny pranks in the LHC :P

Many of us are traveling to Europe to attend. :)

Schengen for us here can be pretty difficult and slow..if we manage to get it :)

You are not that far from Europe, aren't you? :D

yea Lebanon, but unfortunately as I just told @justtryme90 Schengen could require time to receive, if it works out :)
Otherwise would have loved to meet you guys on a trip to Europe, i've been wanting to take my family there for some time, and CERN would have been perfect, for me at least lol

it is amazing, knowing the strong connections between Lebanon and France... ;)

yea ... Lebanon is a veryyy complex situation of a country, politically/religiously/... speaking, so this affects everything, and it's unfortunately some of the population that eventually suffers

I know. It is complicated. With bureaucracy, everything starts to be complicated very quickly.

This is pretty amazing - Steemit is really turning out to be one of the most interesting blockchain-projects I have seen.

2018 is going to be a big year for Steemit

Took the liberty of following @alexs1320, @ana.luiza, @aurel.proorocu, @bendelgreco, @ceybiicien, @dber, @ertwro, @fredrikaa, @grandpere, @howo, @justtryme90, @kerriknox, @lemouth, @reggaemuffin, @saunter, @scienceangel, @suesa, @tristan-muller

Good luck on your trip, I can't wait to see the videos and pictures.

@Ozwald

2018 is going to be a big year for Steemit

Heck yeah it is!

Will try to take plenty of pics/videos to help everyone who couldn't attend, still be able to share in the experience.

2018 is going to be a big year for Steemit

We do our best with the means we have to be part of that :)

Can't wait to hear the news when steemstemilacs crack the mystery of the graviton in the LHC! Keep us posted!

I can tell you: no graviton, for now ;)

My interest has really been piqued. I can't wait to see the pictures and videos from the LHC. And hopefully, I would be live in 2019 for the 2nd meetup :)
Go STEM!!

In 10 days my friend :)

I've already bookmarked the date sir :)

I will miss.....

I would love to come - for various reasons. I think the CERN is a great place and I would also love to spread the message of steem. Unfortunately, I will not be able to join. But I am looking forward to seeing the pictures

Maybe next time you could join!

I will try to ;-)

This is how should steemit be about congratulations for those lucky steemians who will be attending this great adventure ♥

Steemit is a community too, indeed. :)

This is dope! I can't wait for the after-action report.

The during-action report first :D

I have nothing but admiration for your dedication and determination to set this up. I've long admired CERN and the LHC, especially for their discovery of the Higgs Boson.

Lucky dogs. :)

You could have been part of us, you know ;)

I am really looking forward to see those pictures.

You can count on us for that :)

I hope so. Is it allowed to take pictures everywhere, or is there some areas where they do not allow it due to security reasons?

Pictures and videos are not even allowed; they are encouraged. Everywhere!

We, at home, would be patiently waiting for those 4K images that would soon be gracing here. Bon voyage to those going. Thanks.

Hi greenpls vote me

in a couple of weeks, and you will have some :)

Oh yes!

Very cool, can not wait to see some pictures. Have fun and safe trip. Running the Atlas simulation now after just starting again yesterday while doing other projects.

Are you member of ATLAS? :D

This will be a very interesting group activity! To be over there is the best dream of a scientist, the idea to use steemit for pronote this trip is great, what are you planning to do after this?

For our next meetup? Hasn't been discussed yet! Would like to enjoy this one first before thinking about the next. As for project plans you can check out This where we talk about the project, recent accomplisments, and a few future directions.

I´m going to be alert about your next meetup, meanwhile I´ll check out the website you´ve provided me to get to know more about this wonderful project. That´s nice!

Wow! Sounds like some particles of STEEM will be generated too!

We will try to smash some STEEM together with SBD and see what we get.

or Steemians... but then we will need helmets :D

I'm really looking forward to seeing all the pictures and reading your future blogs.

This is probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you all, enjoy it!

Actually, this will be my fifth times. But I guess this will be the first one for the others :D

This is an awesome, I really wish I could join you guys. @steemstem

Maybe the next time? :D

Waiting for the pictures and videos!
Live streaming would be better if possible.

We will try to have it. We will see what we can do.

Thank you !
have a successful visit.

What a great experience that will be. From my end here i wish all participants a great and productive deliberation. Looking forward to live update.....

We will, don';t worry :)

This should become an yearly pilgrimage. CERN should be on everyone’s bucket list.

That is not possible. When the machine is running, there is no way to go down to see it. However, it is possible to visit other experiments at CERN. This is probably not as exciting as the LHC, which is one of the largest man-made experiments ever :)

Such a great choice of venue for you guys to have a meet up! CERN is a place of awe and wonder and I wish I could be there for but a moment in time to see the collider in action.

We will not see it in action. It is impossible to go down in there when the machine is running (for obvious reasons). But we will see it being calmly maintained, together with one of the LHC detectors ^^

I am looking forward for the next @steemstem meetup, I can see vision of what would probably will improve. The agenda was so detailed and I think there's more for you to tackle in the next meetups.

One thing at a time ;)

This is cool stuff. I am forwarding this info my my friends, most of them are outside steemit and they are all scientists :)

Please do! Maybe will they join the platform and our community! We will welcome them with pleasure.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

That sweet, I have been following CERN for a wile now. Let us know if there is any dark matter is leaking out :P

I can tell you that there is no dark matter (at least for now). Too bad, but no observation ;)

This will be quite interesting, indeed! I have heard a lot about CERN, the Hadron Collider and the impact they are having on our understanding of the universe and its makeup, gravitational waves, dark matter, dark energy , etc. I personally would have loved to be a part of the delegation of Steemians metting there. Poor me - if only I had the funds!

I can't wait to see the wonderful pics.

Actually, the Large Hadron Collider won't probably help us at all for what concerns our understanding of dark energy and the gravitational waves. But for the rest, dark matter in particular, this is hopefully the machine that will wave the way to the future discoveries.

This should get some attention to the platform!

It seems it does, according to the number of views (which is very cool) ^^

I have shared this post on all platforms I have available, I really want to try help this community. Never have I felt a desire to share during this entire online boom the last 15 years. I have found a hobby in blockchain technology and unlike other social media’s there is a lot of quality content on here from legitimate people. Yes I am guilty of wanting to make an earnings from contributing, this has inspired me to try create my own original content or atleast give my views on the subject at hand.
Any good tips/suggestions for new steemer? Anything at all please.

Thanks a lot for sharing!

My first advice would be to engage people, read their blog, comment their posts, meet them on the chat, etc. This is where you could start building a troop of followers :D

i agree with your opinion,

Cool visit! Although I have my views about Cern’s futile efforts chasing the smallest element... and not succeeding at having found it yet..

On a related note, Is there a way to find geographically based Steem groups? I’d love to meet up with some Netherlands based Steemians.

The Higgs boson was found at the LHC. Why do you call that futile?

On the side of the larger picture, is trying to understand how the universe works a futile task?

Actually you’re right, it’s not futile it’s just that they leave out an essential part in their search - i.e. the role of consciousness

This does not belong to particle physics. We leave that to others.

Why doesn't it belong to particle physics if the role of an observer in the double slit experiment affects whether the particle behaves like a wave (when no one's observing) or like a particle (when someone's observing)? I'm sure you know about it as a particle physicist.

And so the simple act of observing affects the experiment results. So if something affects the results of an experiment, no matter how bizzare or unrelated to the science itself it may appear, why not take it into consideration and include it in the study itself? Because in my view, if one knowningly doesn't take it into consideration, the results will always be skewed.

"If you can explain this using common sense and logic, do let me know, because there is a Nobel Prize for you.." ;)

The role of the observer is different from the role of consciousness, IMO. The role of the observer, it is a great question in quantum mechanics and I could write a full post on that topic one day, if you want.

However, for the consciousness part. Many experiments are entirely run by computers. Is the computer conscious? I don't think so and have more difficulties with that.

You could also do a livestream via Dlive! :D Would be cool to see it directly!

Maybe we can try :)

Absolutely right! Go steem & dtube!

steem wil past facebook one day

Hopefully!

@steemstem nice post, I hope all the attendees have a blast! Maybe you could send word with one of them to have them fix the Berenstain books back how they were :'-(

I have no clue what you are talking about... I am sorry :/

No worries, I was just being silly. No one can seem to figure out for certain what's behind the Mandela effect. Some have speculated that it's from CERN experiments which have caused parallel universes to merge. I was just riffing off of that conspiracy in posting the meme. In all seriousness though, I hope you all have a good time, as it sounds like great fun!

Ah ok, the non existing madela effect... I see :D

Oh I think it exists, I can’t be certain how or why, however, there is definitely a phenomenon which appears to be causing people to misremember certain key historical events in popular culture almost uniformly. Whether it be Berenstain vs. Berenstein Bears. “Luke, I am your father” vs. “No, I am your father”, “Mirror mirror on the wall”, vs. “Magic mirror on the wall.” “If you build it they will come” vs. “If you build it he will come”. There are so many instances of this I could go on forever.

Of course not everybody remembers everything, let alone remembering everything correctly. Yet, that doesn’t explain away a mass misremembering of events. Theories about what may be causing it include but are not limited to experiments being conducted at CERN, as well as quantum computing in general. Some people think that quantum computers harness processing power from parallel universes, they even talk openly about this. One man went so far as to say that we're either harnessing the processing power of qubits from parallel universes or, the universe is acting as if though we are. I found that idea to be very profound.

Whatever the truth is, these are exciting times to live in. When science meets fiction, looks it squarely in the eye and says WTF! I mean the very fact that mankind is accomplishing the impossible with quantum computers, and isn't even certain how this is being accomplished is mind blowing in and of itself. I think mankind as a whole is on the verge of becoming either godlike, extinct, or maybe a bit of both. It might not even matter, especially if it's already happened, and this is all a simulation run on a post-human quantum supercomputer by mankind's collective AI progeny.

We would be none the wiser.

I quite agree with everything you said in the last paragraph. I think we have proof that we live in a Matrix/simulation, but humanity may be ignoring all the evidence. For instance, look at all the striking coincidences and symmetry between the assassination of John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln, the sinking of the Titanic, the circumstances that led to the First World War, etc.
I'm not so sure about the existence of multiverses, but I'm absolutely certain that we live in a simulation!

Hi @alexodavids!, I don’t know if you’ve ever played the video game Grand Theft Auto V or not. In that game, it’s basically a simulation of three different cities; San Andreas, Los Santos, and San Fierro.

When you login to play this game online, it puts you in a server with like 15-30 people in it. Yet at any given time there are probably hundreds of thousands of people playing the game.

In order to accommodate everyone there are many servers (or worlds), all running the same simulation of those three cities. Not only that, everyone who is running the game, is also running an instance of the simulation.

If a for example a gun store gets shot up by another player, that store will be closed for some time. But if you get moved to another server, or another instance of the same universe that very same store that was shot up, will be perfectly fine and open for business.

I guess what I’m saying is, if we are in a simulation. There is no telling how many other concurrent simulations might also be running. That’s how simulation theory and multiple worlds might coincide; it could also explain the Mandela effect too.

People from different servers having different memories of past events. I wrote something about this a while back, you might be interested you can access that here.

Even better though, is this video by CamperKillerCommentary, where he really digs deep into simulation theory, Enjoy!

Good information

Where is krexchange

Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the web

I thought Spiderman was the inventor of the web.

Yup, wiki confirms it.

It's too late to change the post, but not too late to apologize to your readers for this inaccuracy.

seems you guys gonna have a great event
i wish all the success
good wishes

Thanks! :)

Please i wish i can be there to see this, I know its going to be fun. Please is there any transport from Nigeria. I can't wait to hear yes from you @steemstem

No. People are organizing their transportation by themselves. And it is also too late to register (we are advertising this meetup for a couple of weeks already). Maybe for the next time?

Sounds like a great opportunity, wish I could go!

Maybe next time! :)

Hi @steemstem. I'm rewarding followers like you who contribute authentic original content to steemit by adding their names to my upvote bot. You should see my upvote appear on most of your posts going forward. Thanks!

Y good promotion of steem

Awesome my friend @steemstem

CERN has Alot going on over there.,back in 2013 François Englert and Peter Higgs got the noble prize in physics, for the theoretical discovery of a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles, and which recently was confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider." ive always wanted to go.

There is more than the Higgs at CERN. :)

Maybe for the next time, you will be there?

YES YES , oh i know its much more to the "European Organization of Nuclear Research" #CERN !! they are surely accelerating science over there finding what the universe is made of, So maybe next time id be fortunate to go id love to see that LHC in play ., Id also like to see that statue of Shiva doing her Cosmic dance, its much mystery surrounding CERN im scientifically intrigued all the way !!!

Wow! This is a very good idea and a kind gesture, you are truly a role model to us the newbies, more grease to your elbow.

Nice article thanks

Thanks for looking!

Great idea! Would love to join and see the Large Hadron Collider!!

Maybe 2019 :)

Wow..!!!,I like tou post and story in the post
Good post @steemstem,awesome.

A very impressive opportunity! II would go if I had the money to travel to Switzerland.

great information sir thanks for sharing keep it up

hey,
tHIS IS MY first day on Steemit. Your post was very informational. I had no clue about the Steemit community and how serious it is. I will not be attending, but am looking forward to the turnout! It is nice to see a platform that's completely different from youtube and able to earn from day one. You will be one of my first followers and maybe I can off something different to the platform myself
Much love,
Scoop Airsoft

Science has to be a kind of serious thing. We have fun, we can laugh, but we must draw a line :D

Wow! This is going to be a blast for the steemit community. Can't wait to see... Stay in touch.
And thanks for the post.

I hope they all have a great time without me -___-

We will be posting about it!

I wish I can attend but am very far. Am in Nigeria. Wish you guys all the best. @steemstem

Maybe it'll be possible for you to attend next time :) Some are coming from the USA!

That's truely nice

Is that a rocket in your pocket? Naah just steem mooning.
