SteemSTEM Distilled #101

in steemstem •  5 years ago

After ou hundredth release, here is a delayed binary distilled (101). Welcome to this new episode of our curation effort! The SteemSTEM community is as usual waiting for you to pass by on the SteemSTEM discord server, where most our active members are available to chat with anyone on a daily basis.

We present in this distilled our top two handpicked post choices for the last week. As usual, our selection committee consisted in a one-man team made of @lemouth, and some statistics are given at the end of this post.

Please do not be discouraged if you did not make it on this issue. The chances to be picked are low. In the meantime, you may wish to check these guidelines for extra tips on how your writing could be more effective (or ask for a mentor on Discord).

Our top choices

Ion Thrusters To Propel Humanity Into Future

Traveling in space... an old dream that is good to discuss today, as we went to the moon exactly 50 years ago. @medro-martin discuss in his last post rockets in space and the important topic of moving into the intersideral vacuum. Very recently, ion propulsion appears and this is what this post is about.

Molecules in interstellar space and a close look at electrons

@empressteemah continues this series on what is going on with physics in the interstellar medium. Again, this is just an excuse to comprehensively discuss the properties of the atoms regarding their position in the Mendeleev table, and how this is connected on the configuration of the various electrons of each element.

SteemSTEM offers support to anyone using our app, steemstem.io. We recall that:

  • Posting an article through the app automatically yields a 5% stronger upvote at curation time.
  • Posting a reply to an article (or to another reply) from the app can sometimes yield some SteemSTEM support.
  • Setting @steemstem as a beneficiary to the post automatically yields a stronger upvote (up to 5%).

Last week, the SteemSTEM curator teams have supported 50 posts written by 37 authors. 23 of these posts have been posted through the app (and got a 5% stronger upvote). Among these 50 posts, we find:

Thanks, @lemouth for the honour.

A big thanks also goes to the entire @steemstem family, including the management, curators, honour members ( I wish to be one too though), and mentors. I really commend all your great work. I wish you all more power and strength.

Your second time in two months ;)

Thank you for putting out an issue in steamy (not Steemy) July. Congratulations to the featured writers.
Sometimes I write articles that have a science component but are not specifically STEM content. Is it possible to post these on SteemSTEM.io so I can name SteemSTEM as benefactor?
Again, thanks for creating and maintaining the community.

There is no strict rule with the tags (you can use any tag you want at the end of the day). This being said, if there is a science component, there is no problem in posting it through the app and set @steemstem as a benefactor (and you will get automatically a stronger upvote if the post is picked by our curators).

Thanks! I love Steemit (I may be the only one these days) and I love SteemSTEM. This is a great hobby for me and want to support the community. Just don't like to be presumptuous or cross boundaries. So, if something has a science component, even if it's not strictly SteemSTEM, I'll post it on the app and that way give SteeSTEM a tiny bit of whatever my payout is.
Have a great summer with your family, @lemouth

Sure please do so! Have a nice summer too!

Thanks @steemstem management for the honour. More power to y'all.

You are welcome! :)

Great and top-notch selections you've got there! Discovered and learnt a lot from each of them.

I must say that STEM has really created a home of knowledge. More distills to come!

Do you mean SteemSTEM (which is different from STEM)? :)

SteemSTEM rather!
