SteemStem...My New Home!!

Today I’m going to talk about a special place that I found on the steemit platform, it’s my 3rd home, first being the gym, second being college and SteemStem being my third!

Ever since I was a child I always liked to be surrounded by smart people, I liked to be surrounded by people that actually motivated me and the conversations with them were engaging and mentally stimulating. My group of friends is like that, last time we went out we talked about so much science stuff.

Coming to Steemit I saw many posts about cryptos, arts, traveling, etc… I first tried to start on the photographic section of steemit, but I don’t enjoy it very much, I like to take photos, but I wouldn’t like to do it every single day, but then I found out about SteemStem.

What is SteemStem you ask?

Well first and foremost, SteemStem is more than a community, it’s a group of friends! A group of friends with engaging, mind stimulating, fantastic conversations! In our discord we talk about science, we talk about engineering, we talk about the economy, we talk about technology, we talk about math, I’ve talked about everything I wanted to talk about, and I always got an answer-back, an answer from highly educated people!

I always like to achieve more and to surpass my limits (for anyone that watched DragonBall I’m like Goku xD) joining the SteemStem discord has been so great to achieve the “surpassing my own limits” goal, being part of this group of friends made me more proactive, made me smarter, made me understand about topics that I always wondered but never actually researched about, and gave me a place to express my own scientific ideas!

I don’t know about your countries, but at least in mine it sometimes gets hard to express my own opinions, especially if they are scientific ones, fear of being called a “nerd” stops me, which I don’t understand how being a “nerd” is a bad thing, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Mark Zuck…(I’m never able to write his last name) they were all nerds, now LOOK AT THEM! Here, I’ll give you an example, the day the Falcon Heavy launched almost brought tears of joy to my face, being one step closer to going to mars, one step closer to asteroid mining, one step closer to secure the future of humankind, one step closer to movies going from sci-fi to reality! I mentioned Falcon Heavy once this last week during a class break, what I got was an answer back from one of my college friends saying “WTF, you are such a nerd…”, on the SteemStem discord, I didn’t even have to mention it, at least 5 or 6 of us were watching the live stream and talking about it!

So… what do I mean by this?

What I mean by this is that SteemStem discord is more than a community, is more than a group of friends, it’s a place you can call home! To me my third home! It’s a place where you can talk about anything science related without fear of being looked at as if you were an outsider, it’s a place where you can UNLEASH your inner nerd and go full “STEM”!
