In this section we will discuss about various paper/sheet used in Engineering Drawing.
Drawing sheet is the paper used for preparing Engineering Drawing, and it is available in 6 different sizes as A0, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, in which A4 is most commonly used category. All these categories not only have diff name but also have different dimensions and area illustrated in table below:
Sheet | dimensions (mm×mm) |
---|---|
A0 | 841×1189 |
A1 | 594×841 |
A2 | 420×594 |
A3 | 297×420 |
A4 | 210×297 |
A5 | 148×210 |
The largest sheet ie. A0 has an area of 1m2.
Every paper has L:B::1:sqrt{2} ie. The ratio of dimension for every sheet is 【1/sqrt(2)】
Note: You might have observed that width of former sheet becomes the length of later sheet, and half the length of former becomes the width of later. This trick sould make learning dimensions easy. Now you only need to learn dimension of 1st sheet and rest you can write with you eyes closed.

Nicely explained, with only correction L:B::sqrt(2):1 instead of 1:sqrt(2)
