On Writing and Milestones

in steemsummit •  6 years ago

Three years ago, I migrated my blog from a paid domain to a free one because I found it ridiculously unnecessary to pay for the slim chance that people will notice my passion for writing and story telling.

Five months ago, I migrated that free blog to a blockchain-based content hosting site called Steemit.

This time I didn't have to spend anything except time and effort in writing my adventures and encounters with nature. Not only has Steemit provided the community and network to expand my readership (I've connected with solar advocates, geologist, biologist from all over the world!), it has also provided me with backup finances (I got paid well for good posts like solar technology, rock climbing, and marine biology).

I am proud to be part of this growing community of content builders that has worked on the concept of meritocracy and great networks. Congratulations to @ybanezkim26, @thegaillery, @legendarryll, and @honeyletsgo for successfully holding the first Steem Summit in Cebu and to @jassennessaj, @themanualbot, and the rest of the core leaders for taking the Cebu Steemit Community this far.

Here's a photo of my winning poetry piece which was on exhibit at the Summit yesterday. (Yes, I only joined poetry because I had to be one of the panelists for travel blogs.)
