Act III, Scene vi
LOCATION: Meanwhile, inside of the palace, in the living room nearest to the entrance.
Weeping is heard during blackout before the scene begins.
DONADO is distraught after hearing the news of his nephew’s death. He carries a white handkerchief that he blows his nose into, making a loud foghorn-like sound.
FLORIO is beside him, rubbing one of his shoulders and trying to comfort him as best as he can.
We Will Rub This Scoundrel Out!
DONADO:
ALAS POOR CREATURE
HE MEANT NO HARM
HE WAS A QUIET PEACEFUL
CHILD
FLORIO:
BUT NOW HE'S DEAD AS A DOORNAIL
AND NOTHING CAN BRING HIM BACK
GET YOURSELF TOGETHER, MAN,
DONADO
SO THAT WE CAN RIGHT THE WRONGS
WE'LL FIND THE MURDERER WHO DID THIS
AND HANG HIM UP BY THE NECK
WE'LL QUARTER HIM IN SEPARATE COUNTIES
AND PISS ON HIS SMALL GRAVE
AND THIS IS SUCH A TRAGEDY
THAT NO ONE CAN DESCRIBE
A YOUNG LAD KILLED BY A RAPIER'S POINT
AND ALL HIS FUTURE WIPED OUT
I WOULD HAVE LIKED HIM AS A SON-IN-LAW
BUT SADLY THAT'S NOT COME TO PASS
HE HAD SUCH GOOD CHARM
I'M SURE WOULD HAVE WARMED
MY DEAR ANNABELLA'S HEART
DONADO:
THIS IS SUCH A TRAGEDY
IT MAKES ME WANT TO CRY
FLORIO:
CHILL OUT DONADO
WE'LL GET YOU JUSTICE
FOR WE HAVE PLENTY OF TIME
WE'LL RUB THIS SCOUNDREL OUT
AND RIP OUT HIS INNARDS
THAT HE'LL BE SO SHOCKED
HE'LL HAVE TO SMILE
AND AFTER WE IMPALE HIM WITH A BED OF NAILS
THAT SMILE WILL GO AWAY
AND HIS LEGACY
WILL BE DAMNED!
