Things that I judge people for on steem: small list for minnows seeking success

in steemtips •  6 years ago

This is a badass space, don't get me wrong. Most folks I've encountered here on steem have been quality people. But there's some that make me wish I had a million SP to downvote the hell out of them.

Here's a quick list of the top three things not to do if you care what little old Nate thinks about you. Also a small list that'll help plankton. Like me.

3. Upvote begging

Hello mister quality poster man, I upvoted you. Pls do upvoting me and follow for maybe to receive more upvotes.

Not how it works fam. Go be annoying somewhere else. I've actually gone on tirades before and found a dummy that upvoted one of their stupid begging comments and downvoted it just to make sure.

2. Stupid memes, off topic titles, and no writing

You've seen the posts.

Title: so funny
Post: stupid picture of a snowman getting slapped by an alligator.
Tags: #funny
Overall: effing dumb. Go away.

If you hate it too, go here to blow your top. Grrr.

1. SELF UPVOTING!

Call me a terrible person, but if I find a post that's got a high value and I see the author's name in the list of votes, I don't vote for it. You have enough support from yourself. You don't need mine. Even if it's a bomb ass post.

If you're a whale that can upvote your self into trending, why not just make 10 posts a day with the word "the" and upvote it? You don't need support. You don't need votes. You've got you and you're all you need. That's a huge pet peeve of mine. You upvote your comment on my post? I don't upvote it. End of story.

Relevance is quality. Relevance earns its own support.

Stay relevant

Self upvoting don't see it as a problem as long as it doesn't becomes compulsive, but upvote begging and memes I don't encourage either. They're cheap and lame and will never make anyone successful. Plus memes I consider somehow trespassing some copyright territories.

They're cheap and lame and will never make anyone successful

right. freaking. on.

I guess that really sums up what I mean.

off topic titles, and no writing

One of the reason I no longer look beyond the headline except in a very rare case, I grew tired of clicking a headline to get a one paragraph story which just added a few words to the Headline. WP-NYT, and The Atlantic. I don't like LA, but at least the LA times has stories with most of their headlines, just not many I want to read. Steemit is the same at times.

I just follow lots of people I like and scan through my feed on busy. A much nicer user experience. And if someone resteems some rubbish, they get promptly unfolloweded!

Yeah, I've seen a lot of those too. ugh.

I think I'm having a disgruntled minnow day. Haven't had coffee in a few days, so I guess I'm on a war path now lol

So, I know part of the minnowuprising as described by taskmaster is to upvote or own posts...... But I can't. I never have, and I probably never will. It just feels too arrogant and horn tootin'.

Maybe someday if I ever get the, "That's great..." feeling like Ralphy got after he finished his Christmas theme in A Christmas Story, I'll upvote that post. (I hope you know what I'm talking about!)

Yeah, someone I respect in the @shadowbot discord server just pointed out that there's a difference between making sure you're paid for your time for a quality post and ensuring you have income for shitposting. My problem is that even if id did upvote my own work to make sure I'm compensated for my time, it's a penny! lolol

I know what you're talking about.

Word. Upvote me and i'll upvote you! ;P
Rest well my friend, chat soon.

Boy, we was about to fight!

Hahaha! I knew you'd like that.

You got a plankton sized upvote from @worksinsane because your post appeared in the We Curate quality post search tool. It is a web art thingy thing that searches posts which fulfill predetermined rules. Upvoting isn't automated, @worksinsane reads posts before upvoting.
