SteemTrail Phase Two: Category Trails

SteemTrail Today

SteemTrail received overwhelming community support in the introduction post. The support has allowed the project to move into beta which is the implementation of Phase Two: Category Trails. The Category Trails will be instrumental in laying the foundation for additional features that are planned to be released on the platform. We are very excited about the future of steemit.com and the value Steemtrail is going to add to the community.

Moving into Phase Two: Category Trails

The implementation of Category Trails has been a vision of mine since July 2016. While a curator for Team Smooth I often thought how great it would be if I could just focus on one category/tag and grow it into a self monitoring, reward generating community. A community that establishes its own set of rules, and reaches out to people not yet on steemit.com that share the same interest. The community then will be responsible for creating and sustaining its own value.

Category Trail Team

Now that we have entered beta for SteemTrails, community involvement is very important. The introduction post has helped produce our first set of Category Trail curators and I expect this to grow each day. We are in search of more community members to join SteemTrail to help curate existing category/tags and create new sub-categories. The ability to access sub-categories beyond the existing main categories will further expand the content being provided on steemit.com. Hopefully this leads to changes in the user interface in regards to organizing and searching for content.

Below is the list of current category/tags being curated by the team.

Moving Forward

The goal of SteemTrail is to grow the project each day. In order to do this we will need an increasing amount of support and dedication to the project. I want to ask the community to help SteemTrail move this project into the direction it has planned and join us today.

To support SteemTrail is very simple. Click the provided link to steemit.chat and let everyone know the category/tags you wish to curate. We also provide training for you and will go over SteemTrail guidelines that curators follow. It's really very easy and most importantly a whole bunch of fun!

The SteemTrail project and chat are open for everyone to join. We believe in full transparency of the project and we do not want members to feel they cannot be a part of it. It is open for everyone to participate and contribute.

Thanks again for the initiative and good work so far.

Together we can make it!

Better and better!

Thank you! We are going to fun.

Thanks for organizing this and excited to curate as a team.

Thank you! Im very excited.

I'm happy to be curating the #gardening tag with you, @luzcypher! It looks like you are part of a larger team, too, for the #travel tag. So you will develop some real insights about tag-team curation!

And for anyone wondering why the #foraging tag is on the list, even though it's not a common tag -- My goal is to grow a community around this tag. Before I joined Steemit, I could see from 'the outside' that there's some interest in finding and eating wild foods. I believe that foraging for wild foods and crafts makes our lives more sustainable, secure, grounded, and just plain interesting and fun. Weeds, wild plants, and the land around us – in our yards, parks, and wilderness – have so much to offer, if we just get to know them. But so many people don't know where to start, or need some support as they learn. And foraging is one of those topic areas where facts do matter! If you are interested in foraging for wild foods or crafts, stay tuned and let me know if you see any posts about foraging, whether they are tagged that way or not.

I'm excited too. My roommate is into foraging and I have done quite a bit of it myself. Mostly mushrooms, abalone, urchins and mussels.

This is going to fun and look forward to getting started.

Mmmm, mussels! And mushrooms! :D
