The past weekend i made a trip to Cyprus. In particular Nicossia, to spend some time with friends. After all the fun we had and the foods we ate and the stories we told to each other it was already Sunday. Almost 1.5 day passed by and I didn’t even understood how. Anyway since i was there i just didn’t want to leave the island without seeing some of its sights. So since it was Sunday we went to visit this amazing cave
The historic cave of Panagia Chrysospiliotissa
is located in a beautiful and leafy eucalyptus location just a few miles outside the center of Nicossia. It is carved in the rock at a height of approximately 50 meters on the banks of the River Pediaios. So if someone wants to go inside the cave you have to go all the 104 steps to the top.The panoramic views from the cave of the surrounding area is unique and enchants guests.
Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures in the cave
The cave according to tradition, worked during the period of the 8°-9° century when several monks were forced to hide in places that are not exposed to,so the can freely love God
The name was given to the cave due to the find of the miraculous icon of Panagia which according to tradition was found to be at the best possible condition in the cave. Since then the cave named "gold cave" and "Chrysospiliotissa " Panagia
ah such a beautiful picture man I hope to visit it one day myself
