As of today, the base reserve rate for the Stellar Network will be lowered from 10 XLM to 0.5 XLM. This is great news because the minimum account balance required will be lowered from 20 XLM to 1 XLM. With the exchange rate of 1 XLM = 0.60 USD as of this morning and the super-low transaction fees, Stellar is now an accessible cryptocurrency for anyone in the world!
I am excited about this development and I believe that the adoption of Stellar Network as a payments infrastructure will accelerate this year. Stellar has a great team with great transparency and is backed by IBM and Stripe. They will be releasing a new roadmap at the end of January. Also, the FairX exchange, which will allow users to buy crypto using fiat, will be using Stellar Lumens as an intermediary currency. The public beta is expected in the coming months, and I'm super excited for that.
Currently, about 40% of my portfolio consists of XLM. While the price hasn't been doing so great in the past week, I'm hodling for the long-term. I think that XLM can easily double or triple its current price in the coming months as more and more businesses adopt it to handle payments on the blockchain.
