The Idea was to be able to travel distances on the surface that can't be reached by foot. The first rover got there with Apollo 15. For sure the Rover was subject to other scientific studies apart from exploration

Ty, I understand. Too many problems with going to the moon. No wonder no one else has been on the moon: NASA never got their, either!

you are welcome. Although, i strongly disagree with the opinion that NASA never got there, i respect it. The Rovers were intended as a tool to carry astronauts and equipment on the surface
