Air-codition: Is the process of cooling, humidifying, heating, dehumidifying, circulating and cleansing of air. It can be window or through the wall air-conditioner. It consist of three basic parts:

  1. Hermetic compressor.
  2. Condenser.
  3. Evaporator-using capillary tube(refrigerant control).
    AIR-CONDITIONING DEFINITION.

Air-conditioning can be defined as a process by which the temperature humidity flow and purity of the air is controlled simultaneously with a space.
Air-conditioning is a process of combating heat from a space to be cooled.
Air-conditioning is a process of cooling a space.
Air-conditioning is a means of heating, dehumidifying, cooling, humidifying, circulating and cleaning of the air.

TYPES OF AIR-CONDITIONING.

We have different types of air conditioning,namely;

  1. Central air-conditioning.
  2. Package air-conditioning.
  3. Split air-conditioning.
  4. Window type air-conditioning.
  5. Room mobile air-conditioning.
  6. Auto mobile air-conditioning.
  7. Ceiling air-conditioning.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION OF AN AIR-CONDITIONER.

High pressure liquid> low pressure liquid> low pressure vapour> High pressure vapour refrigerant.

Liquid refrigerant collects in the lower coils of the condenser and flows through the capillary tube refrigerant control into the Evaporator. When the unit is in operation, the evaporator is under low pressure.

The liquid refrigerant rapidly boils and picks up heat from the Evaporator surface. A motor driven fan draws air from inside the room and pulls it through a filter.

The fan forces the air over the Evaporator. Here its cooled and goes back into the room. The low pressure vapour drawn from the Evaporator through the suction line bact to the compressor for recirculation.

CAPACITOR.

Capacitor is a device used for starting compressor in air-conditioning. It holds the auxiliary winding out of phase to create a low starting torque and when the rotor reaches about 75 percent of its speed, the auxiliary circuit opens.

TYPES OF CAPACITOR.

There are three types of air-conditioning capacitor, namely;

  1. Running capacitor.
  2. Fan capacitor.
  3. Combined capacitor.

1)Running capacitor: This is used to start and run the compressor. It has two terminals for connection. It comes in various rating of compressor any of the terminal can be used for starting.

2)Combined capacitor: This is a combination of both fan and running capacitor. In combined capacitor, "F" stands for fan, "C"stands for running "H" stands for Herm. It also consists of three terminals..
