First Step in Borneo - why do we move to Kuching, Malaysia?

Hello!

I am a Korean who lives in Kuching , Malaysia. I live with my husband, a daughter and a son. We moved to kuching on January, 2017.

#1. Why do my family move to Kuching?

Have you heard about Kuching? For me, I hadn't heard about this city before my husband told me. One day in 2014, my husband talked to me,
"How about going to Kuching to live?"
"??? Where is it????"
"In Borneo Island. It's in Malaysia."
"Borneo??? Malaysia?!?!?!"

I hadn't been Southeast Asia before. Even I hadn't heard about Kuching. Malaysia was an unknown world for me. And for koreans, Borneo is famous as 'Borneo Funiture'. I only could imagine there would be lots of big and tall trees.

My husband insisted that we should go there and the city would be very good.

At the moment, I had birth my second child, but we were so much worried about Korea's environment which included worsing air quality, radioation problems, political threat from NK, and the sad and frustrated sinked Sewolho ship accident.. As a parent who just had two children, continuous problems that we faced made us think to live in another country. We belived that there would be better environment that we can raise our children healthier and safer. Our children had also skin problems which was very itching so they could hardly sleep.

"Kuching is a very safe city. There would be no earthquick, no volcano, no nuclear power plants, no threat of war.. Natural environment is also very good. Borneo is like Amazon. There are so many rainforest, amd nature is well preservated. I really want to go there!!!"
My husband told me.

My husband is a person who loves nature and animals. Especially, he loves tropical rare fishes and plants. From the beginning of our marriage, there were always so many fish tanks and fishes, small shrimps, and somtimes frogs in my house. It was his life. I thought that he would not live without it. So eventhough I don't like to raise fishes, I supported him to do that.

He sometimes told me pointing some fishes,
"These are very special fishes and very expensive. A fish value xxxx blablabla~~~. "
For me, a fish is just a fish. But he seems to be very happy when he looks and raises fishes. Especially when he made fishes hatch, I could feel that he was very proud of himself.

That was also one reason that we came to Kuching. He said that there are so many rare fishes and plants in Borneo Island. To see them in real nature, that's the dream of all the people who raise rare fishes and plants.

'Ye.. That would be. But that is not my dream.'
I thought in mind. But I also worried about other environmetal factors. So we decided to visit Kuching. It was in 2014.

It was the beginning.
