Updates on the SteSMS Posts (Short Content Type)steemCreated with Sketch.

I've blogged some SteSMS posts, now I modify my original idea a bit.

Reason

It just won't work here (Steemit) without a picture (except you are a rock star).
The war goes for attention, and while short, simple posts are also worth attention, they seem very unprofessional in the feed without an image. And 80% of the war depends on the feed (click or not).

Adding an Image

I didn't want to add much code to this, but either a little code or unnoticed posts. Therefore I wanted to come up with a short template.

I wanted to avoid:

  • searching different images for every sentence;
  • a big image (scrolling for the real content) for only getting a thumbnail;
  • a full-width image (getting a header only for some sentences);
  • a small centered image (spaces at sides, not enough compact for a short post);
  • that the image gets notable attention that is withdrawn from the actual content.

I've decided to add that image what I used at the announcement of my content type experiment. I modified it a bit: cut a 16:9 part of it, where the text is at the center of the picture (little vertical frame and 1/3 text, 2/3 image ratio).
The best formatting option I've found is pulling it right. It can fulfill all the requirements above, and it gives an extra advantage I'm going to write about after showing an example.

The Template

Here is a template that everyone could use. It's short, rather a note than a document.

<div class="pull-right"><img src="http://www.steemimg.com/images/2017/01/03/stesms38951.png" alt="stesms" /></div>
YOUR TEXT HERE

---
![OPTIONAL IMAGE'S TITLE ](AND ITS LINK)

Note that you can delete everything after 'YOUR TEXT HERE` if your say isn't about an exact image.

An Example

Here is how it looks like in practice (without START and END).
START

stesms

waited so long

END

You can see in the example above, that the format and placement gives an extra advantage at Steemit. You could know when you are writing a too long story. When the text flows under the image, it's getting longer than 1-2 sentences. When there are more lines under the image, you can start thinking making a regular post instead.
