I have been waiting to respond to this one. I completely agree with you about rehabilitation needs to teach them to stand on their own feet. There is not enough money in the world to just "give" to people, plus once the money runs out people are still poor.
I am a huge believer in giving them a "chance" though. Many aren't aware of the possibilities. But if we can teach them how to use the tools at their disposal, some will life themselves and their families up. And like with all things, some will never pay attention and that's life too.
So when I talk about rehabilitation, I'm not talking charity, I'm really talking training and education (mixed with some motivation and coaching).
I think I'm done with this thread now...lol
I have met my match @coolguy123!!! You are a good responder!!!
I've often thought about the idea of "rehabilitation" here as well @davemccoy and @coolguy123; it is something I am passionate about, because I do believe that the vast majority of people, given or taught the right skills, can learn to "behave"properly. As a high school teacher and later, when I owned my own restaurant, all but a couple of kids or employees I met wanted to do well, and please the boss (me in both cases haha) when they had been given the skill set to do so. I too do not believe in giving people everything, but I do believe in giving people a chance; in fact, I believe in giving everyone a second chance, but certainly not a third or fourth one.
If either of you ever decide to do something further with this, please let me know. And @davemccoy, perhaps I will put on yet another hat in our @newbieresteem initiative and become the enforcer of rehabilitation haha

That's great to know @lynncoyle1.
I think there are not many people with that kind of mind set, may be because of one or the other reason.
Dave has inspired us to go that extra mile and I am sure this is going to be a bigger one as we meet many Steemians.

Unlike the "regular" world, I find that there are a lot more giving people here...or maybe it's just the friends I've met! Someone once here said to me, when we were talking about the difference between Facebook and Steemit, that on FB, people post what they want you to see, and here, people post what they think others want to see. It generates a completely different selflessness; one that also encourages helping others succeed. Because let's face it, keeping this platform "good" benefits everyone. Cheers and thanks for responding:)

Well compiled one on rehabilitation. Fully agree with you.
You have inspired me on this and in last few days, I have tried to be a rehabilitator for some guys who are just posting a pic and tagging many Steemians including me, it's annoying you know.. But I have kept my cool and tried to explain, hopefully those guys listen to me as I listen to your amazing words ;)

they all wont, but the ones that do will make the effort worth it. I agree about it being annoying, but sometimes look at it as a game. I call it "find the real guy" ... so out of all the spammers if I can find the real guy, then I can reach him and teach him/her how to do it right! Its just a little mind trick that keep the negatives out of it!
And omgosh, of course they will listen to you more than me. But if they don't listen to you, then no worries... As they say also, "don't give pearls to pigs"... I try once and if no response, then I move on to the ones with their ears open!
Hope you are having a great day @coolguy123
ps... there is another working group starting that is going to coordinating on giving the newbie nickel upvotes for this weekend's contests. If you'd like me to add you so that you can watch its development, I will be happy to do so! just let me know :)
