In the end, you have to do what is best for you to continue here as a positive influence. Remaining in a battle that only serves to drive you crazy is of no benefit to anyone. I respect your honesty and your willingness to back off, while continuing to support those still involved with it all. If continuing with the "battle" makes you contemplate leaving steemit, then I'd say you made the right choice; your positive efforts will still be felt by so many.
....and I'm sure you're much easier to live with at home haha

I understand your frustration @mikepm74... I think that if @fulltimegeek doesn't get some whales to join him, it will be a really big shame.... I admire you taking the stand to even join in at the beginning and think you all deserve more respect than you've been given.
Unfortunately this platform is weighted to the point where only the big fish matter in this kind of fight. We can at best offer moral support (which you are helping me with at @friendsofgondor)... I know that won't make a difference in the long run, but it will at least help the #stewardsofgondor realize the respect that we all feel for the sacrifices they are making!
Cheers to you and thank you for the honest post. I hope things improve for all of us! :)

It's' an odd style of religious fervor... and I think it comes from a place of hope more than anything else. I've read a number of articles from people who have gone back and literally investigated the calls made, and the outcomes... and there was something like a 20% success rate. Add to this that timelines are never discussed and I literally cannot fathom how anyone believes they've made any money. I can only wonder if he's maybe upvoted enough people to keep his followers hopeful that they might be next. It's super odd... but, y'know, whatever.
I think you're on a happier path my friend... it's a tough fight, the numbers are not on the side of good, not by a fair chunk... and there's every chance that if this battle was won... then someone else just picks up that same mantle and we go round again.
I do think the best approach is just to enjoy the platform in the best way we can... I truly do think that the best use of our votes is to lift up the good.

I have a lot of respect, cause you tried! You did the effort!
I didn't do that... I was ckecking the whole haejin-war from the outside... doing some math (how many haejins to kill the whole steem-platform?)... and I was thinking to power-down too, but I didn't.
... so I went back to my followers, interaction, content, etc.
... let's see what happens in the next months...
Have a great day Mike!

P.S. if you want to reply, you don't need to talk about haejin... btw... great GIFs you have chosen :-)

I think that absolutely no one can reproach you for this decision. It's hard to convince a person who does not have moral principles, but only steel jaws, who just like to vote for himself, rob others and become richer. Since all his signals are complete nonsense, I have only one explanation for such strange activity of his fans - these are paid offers.
The only thing I can not understand is why those who have real influence are not interfering in this situation. I mean other whales, orcas, dolphins, our delegates at last.
Is it only the minnows who must take care of the future of Steemit? But if all the minnows start fighting against the whale, when other whales, orcas and dolphins will continue to sell their votes as if nothing happened, who will be creating the content?

This is probably a good idea.
I dislike the man, too. But his continued presence is also a canary against censorship resistance. Steemit Inc shouldn't take measures to remove him or his posts from steemit, unless he turns criminal (which I don't believe he is, although his actions are immoral).

Why not? Disaggrement on rewards is slill working thing.
The problem is that most of us cannot cope with it, even if we taken together. It is because the main part of the Steem Power belongs to 2-3% of users who keep neutrality and just watch the show.

I don't know who owns the steem power right now, but power laws and pareto distributions apply in any human endeavor.
OP was complaining that he was getting really upset about the whole situation. In his case, it was probably smart to just move on.
Hgin can act like a Steem warlord of he wants; it is going to harm the system a little (I would love to see how much his rewards affect the average user's rewards). But if steemit censored him then we're eventually going to have the same thing Google is doing, which is censoring viewpoints they don't like.
I'd prefer steemit to not be like that.

Surely Steemit is deeply flawed if it allows abuse to flourish, though. I'm too new here to have a deep knowledge of the history of this dispute but I wonder about the use of the word 'censorship' in this context. Curtailing someone's freedom of action (which might easily be against the general good) is not at all the same as curtailing their freedom of speech - and it certainly seems as though the actions of a minority need curtailing if the original vision on which the platform is not to be subverted for selfish ends.

I surrender to the "Law of Code" and the "Wisdom of the Crowd". I am just unsure I will be able to hold myself to it.

Thank you for your service. You have received the Steem Medal of Honor. :) Back to civilian life for you my friend. Hopefully you recover quickly from your battle wounds. :)
