US stock market crash and recovery!? because trade war with china?

Normally I never follow politics as it doesn't really affect my wealth's position directly or indirectly, but with trump's presidency it may look like I'll need to pay more attention to the political news. I checked on my stock positions for several months, and as you might've guessed from my last post on my positions, they're the strong growing vanguard ETFs which will only go down for short time, then rise again. For several weeks I return to check my positions and they were constantly down. My patience ran thin and did some research on why even my S&P 500 position was down so much.

I discovered the recent news in April about Donald trump's potential trade war with china had many investors pulling out of their positions, or at-least much more reluctant to continue trading. During the month of April the DOW, NASDAQ, and the 500 were down more so than they've been in a year or two. The more tension rose between our two countries, the further down these went. You can read the details about the back and forth between the presidents in some other news site.

Now recently, the billionaire warren buffet says that he doesn't expect the two countries to fight for long and these things are dwarfed in the face of how much each country benefits from each other. At the same time news about Germany pushing for a truce has the stock market pushing up again. Every stock is now up from their position in April. However is this temporary? Are these countries using words with now bite? Is Germany going to be successful? Is warren buffet right?
