ROKU spiked up over $12 ( >11%) today on above average volume. I have been staring at the chart trying to analyze what I missed.
The thing that threw me for a loop was the Bearish Hammer that formed on 4/14 as ROKU broke above the 50 day moving average. I anticipated consolidation here or a move below the 50 day moving average. The thing I missed here is that all three indicators still had an upward bias.
The action on 4/15 was completely the opposite as ROKU took off. I still did not think it would break out further as the resistance at $118 was not tested so I did not jump in as I felt the upside potential was not as great.
ROKU again proved me wrong as it had a significant breakout today.
The mistake I made was not trading the momentum and institute tight stops to take advantage of the breakout.
