H.G. Wells ist einer der bekanntesten Science Fiction Autoren um die Jahrhundertwende des letzten Jahrhunderts. Er wurde berühmt durch Klassiker wie die Zeitmaschine und Krieg der Welten, welche später auch erfolgreich verfilmt wurden. Ähnlich wie Aldous Huxley oder George Orwell hatte er bereits präzise Vorstellungen von der Zukunft. So prägte er zum Beispiel als erster Mensch den Begriff der Atombombe, weit bevor sich Physiker mit der Möglichkeit atomarer Kernspaltung auseinandersetzten. Ähnlich wie bei Huxley stellt sich die Frage bei Wells: Visionär, Mythenmacher oder Insider?
