Sorry but this have to get of of my chest.. It seems that companies (at least here in Holland) don't bother anymore to provide any kind of service.... I think they earn their money to easy...
A couple of weeks ago, we ordered new matrasses for our bed. We made an apointment with the company for delivery, got it in mail, and waited for delivery. I took the afternoon off work to get the old matrass downstairs (3 floors) to bring it to the dump... It was a tough job, boxspring matrass two person... Sweating all over the place but I managed.... So we waited for the company to deliver, but nothing happened...
I called them and they said (like if I was crazy) "No sir, we are bringing the matrass tomorrow", So I was quite angry with the lady and said "I know it's not your fault but I don't have a matrass on my bed anymore but besides that I have a confirmation that you will bring it today"... The lady said "I see your problem sir, but the coaches are already loaded for tomorrow, so there is no way you will get them today"... The result was that me and my wife coasy slept on a airbed in the middle of our livingroom :) ...
Ok, and we moved on....
Today we would get our new dressoir and living-room table.. So I got again home early from work to move the old stuff to the garage, disconnect all the cables, clean the floor where the old dressoir stood... So in quite a empty livingroom waiting for the new goods to arrive... Untill my wife sended me an app... She got a message of the company if it was all right if they deliver the goods tomorrow at 11.00 am.... I thought I exploded... So I said "No, that is not possible, you are delivering those funiture today" .. Besides the fact I now can play football in my livingroom, I already took off from work, so unless I can get my free hours paid back you are delivering today......
The guy on the phone was a bit naggy but said that he would deliver, so we are still waiting...
These are just two examples from which I know I am not the only one. But if I would behave at work like a lot of thise companies do I think i would be unemployed very soon.
I'm currious it this something typical dutch or do you (outside Holland) experience the same.
I almost looks like the customer is just a number and companies decide single way what to do or not to do...
So, I feel a little better now, just writing it off....... :)

It's been going that way for quite some time now. It isn't just you and it isn't just over there. We experience stuff like this all the time in the states. Especially with utility companies. The cable guy is horrendous for never showing up when they are supposed to. You call in and they don't seem to care. Cell phone providers are equally insane. You would think that being a loyal customer for over 20 years would gain you something, but that never seems to be the case. Pretty sad... Hopefully you get all of your stuff today.

It isn't just in The Netherlands that this happens. It IS mainly in the over regulated and punctual Western part of the World that people get extremely annoyed by it. In other parts of our planet people are more used to not being in total control and are more acceptant to things not going as planned.
I agree it is annoying btu hey: you learned it's better not to trust (online ) retail promises until they have been kept ;-)

True :) And I really don't mind if due to circumstances some things aren;t going as planned. But when I took me time of two times.. I am a but less understanding ;)
