Kroger Merger Chain

I've been making write ups about some of the merger chains that affect our communities. Today I was working on The Kroger Grocery Store Chain

The Kroger merger chain is unique in that the company has retained many of the regional store chain. Some articles on Kroger's says that the chain is organized into divisions and that the regional stores have some autonomy.

I am using simple nested lists to show the mergers. Each row in the list shows a major event. The events often involve transactions affecting hundreds of stores. Does this list structure make sense?

Eventually I hope to create SVG presentations that show the mergers graphically.

The merger chain shows two different styles of mergers. The Dillon Company shows mergers by a group of grocers dedicated to building grocery stores.

The Fred Meyer merger chain shows a company that was expanding rapidly. The private equity firm "Kohlberg Kravis Roberts" got a hold of the company and started a corporate raider style merger chain.

The Ralph's Merger Chain was executed by a private equity firm called "Yucaipa Companies." Yucaipa randomly bought stores then squished them all together in a store portfolio and sold out to KKR.

The picture shows a Smith's Marketplace in Salt Lake City. It was a Grand Central. Then it turned into a Fred Meyer and finally into a Smith's Marketplace. The hill in the background is called Grandeur Peak. Getting to the top is a fun day hike.
