The world is full of stories and myths that were woven around ancient cities and monuments, which are still passed on for generations to this day.
Cities and places contributed to conveying an image of the way of life for hundreds of years, and revealed another face of human civilization, with all the traditions and culture of its ancient inhabitants.

These places are distinguished by the greatness of their architecture, the style of their construction, and their cultural, social and historical role.

And in 2002, after the founding of the new, non-profit Seven Wonders Foundation, more than 200 monuments built by mankind over varying periods of time were placed on the list of new wonders. Although some places have not reached advanced centers, they have succeeded in attracting tourists and introducing them to the global cultural and tourism map.

Angkor Wat - Cambodia

It is known as the temple city, as it contains the most magnificent temples of Angkor and the largest, with tourist attractions. The Angkor Wat complex, located in Cambodia, is considered one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world. It was built by King Sarfarman II at the beginning of the twelfth century, to be the official temple The state and its capital.

Scientists have finally discovered that these huge statues, called "moai", are huge volcanic rocks, whose heads only appear, while the rest of their body is still buried under the dirt. The island contains more than 800 statues, and the Tokotori statue is considered the most famous among the statues spread there, due to its position, as it appears in the form of a person kneeling on his knees, which is a symbol of strength and mercy for the islanders.

The island also contains more than 300 archaeological platforms called "Ahu" in "Rapa Nui", where the statues are distinguished by the way they are distributed, as most of them turn their face to the interior of the island, while one group is looking towards the seas.

Kiyomizu Temple - Kyoto

It is a unique and rare architectural masterpiece, as the temple was built from cypress wood, bamboo and others, without using any other materials. The construction of this temple dates back to the eighth century AD, and its construction continued to the seventeenth century.

The temple is famous for its distinctive geographical location, as it overlooks the Japanese city of Kyoto, as well as it is surrounded by a series of green mountains and valleys. Local authorities in Japan placed the temple on the national treasure list, due to the artistic and cultural importance of the Japanese.

The temple contains many statues and ancient traditional tools related to the samurai people, in addition to the presence of water pools inside the temple, and a huge waterfall from which water flows. Millions of tourists visit it annually, in addition to the citizens who flock either to pray or to obtain blessings, and young people consider that visiting the temple helps in obtaining good luck in love.

Timbuktu - Mali

It is called the desert jewel set on sand. This city, rich in its civilization, traditions and culture, is located in the state of Mali, and is a gateway between North and West Africa, and a meeting place for land caravans.
Historians say that the meaning of Timbuktu is "a portfolio of trusts", where it flourished for centuries with its cultural, artistic and scientific movement.

What distinguishes this city is its preservation of its old building methods, as the houses are still built of mud, in addition to its containing many monuments, such as mosques, including the "Jenkreber" mosque, which represents an icon in Andalusian art, the mosque of Sankari, Sidi Yahya, in addition to the minarets Huge, mud buildings and castles, a rare masterpiece.

The city was founded in the eleventh century. Its rulers were interested in education, and it witnessed a scientific renaissance, attracting poets, scholars and philosophers from all neighboring regions. And this city still contains many rare old manuscripts and books.
