Storj DriveShare Experiment $50 system using salvage parts

in storj •  7 years ago

Today I got my Storj DriveShare project off the ground. I want to share this project with the readers of Steemit.com. The computer is an intel board, 4 GB of DDR2, 2x 250Gb used HD, 1x 320Gb HD. The core 2 duo was painfully slow in this machine so I purchased a q9550 quad core from EBAY for $18. The rig itself I spent $18 on the processor, and another $30 on a Kingston SSD for the operating system and programs to work faster. Everything else is stuff given to me for free. The whole project is under $50, and a few hours labor installing Windows 7 Ultimate for the OS, Malwarebytes free for some level of security, setting up the wallet for Storj tokens, and installing the DriveShare program. For the Storj tokens I am using Parity wallet. The STORJ Driveshare program was pretty simple to install. I have three empty drives on this system at a total of around 750GB useable space, all of which I'm renting out. I will update weekly to let readers see what is going on with this project. I don't plan on making much of anything on this project but I wanted to learn more about some new things available out there. I'm an amateur blockchain and technology enthusiast and just want to expand my skills and knowledge. I will keep you posted as more information becomes available. NOTE: this build is not the most organized I had been procrastinating and was ready to get it running. unnamed.jpg
