Expansion to a new platform and more talk about Stormhaven Media/GUN!

I’ve now officially expanded my social media presence to Steemit – and by extension Busy and DTube, the latter of which is a YouTube alternative – so I’ll eventually be replicating some of my content onto there, although it requires me to rethink how I handle certain things; I’ll be announcing when I stream on there, although I need to work out what I’m working with in terms of character length. Coincidentally, I’ve learnt that both Game Sack and Rerez are on there too, and they seem to be doing modestly well, so I’m hoping that eventually I’ll be able to build my presence up there, and roll out some secondary profiles/channels so I have a backup to my video content (and a place where I can potentially earn a few quid!), although I do need to first get a system going with my current profile on there.

The username on all of those platforms (as always) is StormkeeperGU if you want to follow me; I’m in the process of rolling out StormkeeperPU on LBRY (as that channel has videos I can upload to the platform as another YT alternative), though the deployment on DTube will only be when I can afford to pay the fee on Steemconnect for a new account! Additionally, in the same vein, I’m also on Minds which has similar stuff to Steemit/Busy, in terms of statuses and blogs. Relevant posts will always go on Player first however (also pushed to FB, which pushes to Twitch), and occasionally Twitch via Player, because it makes things a bit easier to post!

Lastly, I’m going to try and start using the D-Pad icon below, indicating what I’m playing, as that will probably be a useful thing to do for when I prepare my streams, although I’m now considering doing different genre sets on each day I plan to stream, along with a fortnightly (for now) Gamed Up Team (up to 4 staff members) stream, but that’ll be rolled out closer to the end of the year. In any case, even when I start back up on the 4th of July, I’ll still have a lot of stuff to plan. I’d have started streaming back up on the 1st, but I need a few days to take a break from everything that’ll be happening for most of June; from the 29th June to the 1st July, I’ll still be doing GUN and SM stuff, so I’ll literally be tired after a hectic month!

At the rate things are going, this is definitely going to start becoming a career of sorts; my streaming schedule will eventually be integrated with my recording, production and blogging/writing schedules too, so I’m going to have to be a bit stricter (at least for a couple of months) about how long I let the streams last for; they’re going to be on for a maximum of 3 hours, and they’ll occasionally dip into a few minutes (up to 30) past that time if I have to be in a specific position to save. In any case, I’ll also be putting when the past streams will be archived to YouTube and eventually DTube when I can. I’m going to try to do them at a specific time 2 days after the stream ends on YouTube, and either the same time on DTube/LBRY, or 1 day after YouTube, it depends on how the system works.

In any case, the schedule will at least be a bit more consistent for transfers, although equally, people do have the option to watch the VOD on Twitch for up to 14 days after the end of the stream; I do need to look more into this in terms of consistent timings. I’ll be working on similar things for other GUN and SM channels, in addition to having an overall plan for handling content, seeing as I need to make sure that there’s sustainability with content creation. Naturally, I’ve been talking about Patreon a lot, and that is one avenue, but another is also alternative sources, and working out how to log them all.

Even if Stormhaven Media as a whole isn’t quite ready to become a business, there still needs to be a system in place that allows things to be paid for, be it hosting and domains, equipment, stuff to review/stream (although there are ways to get press keys), events to attend/cover (though again, there’s press pases for some of that), and other costs I can’t think of right now, such as wages and promotion, and of course accounting, business and legal fees. The Geeked Up Network is a (future) major part of Stormhaven Media, and a lot of things need to be thought about, especially as there’s a lot of competition out there for certain things; we (the team) all need to consider what our unique angle is going to be, and also how to best promote it.

I’ve not fully worked things out but the “X at Geeked Up” (also including Played Up by X – though Played Up is actually its own thing too in terms of sub-groupings) is essentially meant to be a semi-independent thing where the GU team members are able to talk about their own unique interests and tastes in games, through blog, streaming and video content; all the staff members will have duties as part of GUN as a whole, with their XGU channels being used to show off their more niche interests, if it’s something that’s not git a huge appeal on the main GUN channels, or they want to elaborate upon things further/in more detail. Additionally, this channel is also used for vlogs and also stuff like personal Q&As and also any “pickups” they do.

Likewise, the XPU channel space is meant for Streaming (and./or backups from other streaming platforms), and previews of games before they put them on the main Gamed Up channel for review. There may also be “quick plays” of games that otherwise can’t make it on the main Gamed Up channel for some reason, but someone still wants to cover. Over time, the system will become more refined as I work out how things work, but for now, things are in their infancy, especially as I’m experimenting with different platforms, and also ways to make some money, in order to help fund Stormhaven Media’s requirements, but also so people are eventually able to get paid too, as this will be a proper business, with employment contracts and everything.

That said however, nothing can be done now until next year, as I need to look at current and future operating costs, as well as anything else involved with business, such as working out how PAYE and accounting will work to pay people.

It’s all a lot to take in and think about, so I’m pretty much running GUN and The DiggerKrew as hobbies right now, because I need to work out how to get things working!

Either way though, I do think cryptocurrency is the future, and the presences on Minds, LBRY, and Steemit are a reflection of those thoughts, although which ones will stick, I’m not entirely sure yet; Steemit shows a lot of potential though!
